Specs are Intel 900 MHz, 1 gb ram, 160 hdd
I've tried XP (its slow) , Ubuntu 9.10 (slow) , Ubuntu 9.04 (slow) , Ubuntu 8.* (slow the both versions) even DSL (damn small linux) (working but no working drivers) , Ubuntu 7.10 (perfect I may say but some times laggy but no working drivers) so Geeks i need some advice. Thanks in advance.

you expect speed out of a machine that has less than 1ghz and only a gig of ram ?!? lol

have you tried the lighter windows 2000 or a another linux distro such as fedora or mint?
atoms are based off pentium 4's.......ah so thats why they suck lol :)
i just didn't like heating up my room for a p4 overclock heh

atoms are subpar processors that just need better subsystems
Xubuntu maybe? Did you really find xp slow? because it is blazing fast on my old eee pc 701, of course that one has an SSD so maybe thats why.
what version of xubuntu do you recomand ?
I can recommend 3 options that were created exclusively for netbooks.

1. Ubuntu netbook remix
2/3. Linpus Lite OR Linpus Linux QuickOS
hey dude thanks, i was looking like for 3 month for Linpus..
Linpus isn't free :( so I'm still sticking to XP
Linux is free, XP Should run fine on that speed of processor, and with 1GB of ram that is optimal for windows 7 Home premium or Home basic even (basic is kinda gay cause u dont get to change ur wall paper) But you don't seam to meet requirements for any windows versions over XP.

So Keep with that. You got enough ram for basic tasks, not a worry.
the problem is when i install 7 the wifi driver won't work :(
i don't expect their to be Drivers for windows 7, Seeing as it doesn't even meet required specs to run the OS alone. It by far Beats the ram req but not CPU speed.

You should have all drivers good with Windows XP.
Did this Netbook by chance come pre-loaded with any other OS then windows.
i think people's standards are too high, just be happy with what you have, i though xp ran brilliantly on a 450mhz Pentium 3 with 256mb of ram, and your machine is clearly more capable.
