Well I am currently using Windows Defrag and I am not really impressed with it. What are some other FREE alternatives that can do the best job?

I would also recommend this. I've been using to a long time and haven't had a single problem!
Me too, it's fast with a Dual Core if you give it high priority, and easy to do on a weekly basis, used in conjunction with CCleaner.
I currently use Smart Defrag by IObit software found here

My top 3 are JkDefrag, Auslogics Disk Defrag and Defraggler.
It is usually the most popular belief that JkDefrag is the best of the three, but I have not noticed any difference between the three.
Auslogics disk defrag
Hey Greg. I use Disk keeper. It runs in the background and that is great for me.

Just something else that I do not have to be concerned with.
Disk Keeper is good, I use the Intel Desktop Utilities where you get the free Disk Keeper 9.0 version. It is a little on the old side - but it is free.
Thanks for the reply's guys I read some reviews, and since majority of the recommendations I got here were for Auslogics I am going to give it a shot see how it works out for me.
Weird... Linux doesn't seem to have any defrag programs... what a rip...
Actually this is incorrect there are defragment programs even though the only time you need them is when your file system would be around 80% full or higher thanks to ext3 and now ext4.

The reason why you do not see much talk about defragging Linux is because it is often that a person will have done a complete reinstall before needing to defrag.
Weird, I'm literally not seeing any in my Package Manager... Guess I'm missing a few resources. lol

Que sera, if need by I'll just reformat and upgrade since I'm on Ubuntu and haven't moved up to 8.10 yet.
I forget the defragger in the package manager, but there is one.(however it is only for ext2 filesystems)

Most defraggers are 3rd party and you have to look for them in the ubuntu forums or debain forums.
