When the time comes and a New Year is rolling around, do you perceive that as THE time to make a change in your life, like no other time will do? I'll provide my opinion if it's asked for on this one.

My resolution is to not make any new year's resolutions... ahh crap... failed again...
I made that resolution long ago, and have never broken it. After all, if you cannot keep a promise to yourself, what promises can you keep?
Oh so true! What an important sentiment. Just make sure that the resolutions you make are real ones that you can stick to. Things like, eating healthier or spending more time with family as opposed to resolutions that depend on other people to come true (like making more money, or falling in love).
Well i think its a time for the people who don't really want too quit smoking drinking etc have to make that decision sure you can make the decision in july but isn't it much more fun to go out with a big bang?
Yeah, of course it seems arbitrary to try to make a change you don't want to. My personal beliefs are that one should have to want to change sincerely, and part of that sincerity should be not basing it on a fixed time of year. If you decide to make a big change in July, it's better to go through with it then rather than waiting until January because so much could happen between then and now. Also, stopping smoking is definitely not something to procrastinate on. I did, and I spent a few months close to dangerous after I finally threw away the last cig.
In the past I always made 12. U know one for each month sort of...
Now I guess I'm not that fkd up! lmao!!!
I make 3!!!
i usually don't, but this year i've started mostly with weight loss and cutting back on soft drinks, switching to tea (yeah i know, still caffine, but its still better) with black and green tea's, and have found since i did that on my trips to the gym, i don't get as tired as much, and green tea tends to keep me from feeling hungry, so no need to grab the junk food
That's good advice, and it could really afford to reach more people. Really, this discussion started off from what I perceive to be incredible pretentiousness in the act of making resolutions, not to slam those who sincerely want to change for the better.
I used to make new year's resolutions but they never used to stick so I don't anymore... I do think they work for some people...
Of course it's like they say, what may be right for all may not be right for some. In the end it's up to each and every one of us to forge our paths
It just so happens this year that a lot of crap happened and I find myself starting over anyway. The New Year is something to look forward to, and gives me a little hope that things are going to get better. So this year, yeah, I'm going to make resolutions to set myself up for a better year. :)
for my family this was a tough year as well
