I actually have not subscribed but i do like to pick up a good "custompc" mag this is a UK mag so if you don't know of it don't be terribly surprised im sure the title tells it all but well mostly reviews of hardware new tech and any other articles included
how about wired?
Maximum PC, Computer Power User, Microsoft Tech Net, PC World, PC Magazine, Computer Shopper, PC Gamer, Official Xbox Magazine, Smart Computing are my favorite subscriptions that I currently get. I am about ready to start up a Wired subscription also. I used to get Laptop magazine, but now I just pick up the issues that I am interested in off the store shelf.

If money were no object, I would be getting a lot more subscriptions like: Game Developer Magazine, Msdn Magazine, PCPhoto, Laptop Magazine, Circuit Cellar, Windows IT Pro, Videomaker Magazine, Gamepro - Us, Network World, Custom PC and Computer Music : the Complete Guide for Mac and PC.

I've been getting my magazine subscriptions since the big thing was DOS 5.0 tips and tricks, and I really got into magazines and started my subscriptions with PC Magazine, PC World, Windows Magazine and Boot Magazine (which is now called Maximum PC) all the way back in 1995. But along the way a few of my magazines were discontinued: Games For Windows, Smart Phone Magazine, Mobile PC Magazine, Pocket PC Magazine and PC Magazine - the print edition (it's just not the same anymore, the articles are still good, but I can't read it with breakfast or with a cup of coffee anymore).
If you don't mind my asking, why? I mean can't you get all of the information thats in those magazines online? I can understand wanting to read a magazine with breakfast but 10 subscriptions? You must eat a lot of breakfast, or your a much faster reader than I am.
I have a good-sized library of all the computer books and magazines I've been using and have been involved with since the 1980's. I'm always referring back and forth to them for personalized quick access solutions, I have them all highlighted, bookmarked and categorized by page tabs with my own handwritten notes on them. I have been working in IT and computers long before there was the Internet.

I have a few online subscriptions also, they are all right but you have to be sitting in front of a computer with Internet access to read them; and I can't write on them or categorize them like I can with my physical issues my library.

Even though I go to college online, read books online and some of my other magazine subscriptions - I still prefer the paper page over a giant clunky computer screen that burns your eyes after a few minutes or a dim laptop screen that runs out of battery power to quickly. Magazines are a physical possession that is lightweight (that doesn't run out of batteries or power), and you can carry a few of them in your briefcase, and for me reading a paper page is easier and more restful on the eyes than staring at a computer screen all day. For me I am always reading something wherever I go, sometimes for the sheer enjoyment of reading. But it doesn't necessarily mean that I am an area that has a computer or the Internet available.

It all boils down to personal preference. I enjoy the paper magazine, my eyes can just focus on it easier in any kind of light. Oh yeah, by the way I am a fast reader. I usually go through 2 to 3 complete magazines in one breakfast sitting. :)
Agreed. I also enjoy reading a magazine more than a computer screen, and like to have a physical copy of things. Sometimes I just feel like I'm lazy to pay something to mail me articles and information that is probably just a mouse click away.

That is very fast reading
Yea some of the people that posted do read a lot of magazines. But when you look up stuff online you pretty much have to be looking for something. Not in all cases ofcourse. I've stumbled on lots of information but in a magazine you get articles on topics that you may not have thought of and are interested.
PC World, Wired, prolly Maximum PC soon
PC World Magazine & Scientific American Magazine. :D
I regularly read:

Computers:
Maximum PC, CPU (Computer Power User), PC Magazine, Computer Shopper, PC World

Music, Studio Recording etc.:
Keyboard Magazine, EM (Electronic Musician), MIX, EQ Magazine, Home Recording Magazine

Photography:
Shutterbug

Astronomy:
Astronomy Magazine, Sky and Telescope

That's just off the top of my head. There are others I read now and then, and of course in addition to hardcopy mags I read a lot of Webzines as well (too many to list here).
I dont actually subscribe to magazines, i used to but when i figured out that by going to their sites on a regular basis not only do i read everything that they put in the magazines, but i also get alot more in terms of articles or column posts (blogs) that the do not publish at all. I use rss readers on my computers to keep up with the big news sites and blogs that i want to follow. Just throwing in my two cents.
That's pretty interesting something I may do. Would you mind giving me some of the websites you use.
