More Information

Hi there

On Friday I purchased a cell phone (Nokia 5130) with an unlimited mobile plan. I downloaded apps such as gmail, twitter, and opera mini. On the same day, I found out that my gmail account was used to spam ALLLLL the people on my contact list. I was not doing anything on the computer at the time.

My computer is clean. I dont have bad software or unknown software. I have a reliable antivirus (Nod32) and antispam (Malwarebytes) program installed.

I was wondering whether installing apps on my cell had anything to do with the spam that everyone in my contact list received. Or is there some other reason?

Also, does anyone have tips about making gmail more secure? I know the https, but is there anything else? Is deleting browser cookies help? Changing password? Deleting contacts? etc you probably get where I am going.

Thank you for your advice!

Sounds like you were Spoofed. There's not much that you can do about it.
Log in to your gmail account & click on Last account activity: ... details at the bottom of your page. This will open up a new page for you listing your recent account activity. If there is any logon not from yourself, log them off, and change your password immediately to prevent them from controlling your account.
I have never had any problems with gmail, I think it's awesome. I think that the app you downloaded at your phone is stinking. Just change your password dude.
