Okay so now that the MBP's are out, i can decide on what i want to do, although its very hard deicsion still.

I play WoW. so anything i get must be able to play wow, better than ALL LOW SETTINGS!

My choices are upgrade my current desktop

your tower is still decent, give me your motherboard info so i can Check for AM3 CPU Support
You may like what i have to tell you, also your System is Killer for WoW.
Easy Ultra settings, Depends on ur resolution but u should go way higher then Lowest on that.
Most games, if not all should still be playable at a decent setting, what you Need is a New graphics card and possibly a Better quad, So if you have Mobo info! Gibby Would be happy to assist you :)
i run dual screens, with wow running at 1440x900 on one of them. the 1gb of vid memory is ddr2.
1440x900 And you still have to be lowest sets?
whats the max resolution of the monitors ::P

Hm Yeah the GPU seems to have some weakness but for world of warcraft that 9400GT Is very ideal for the wow gamer.

This will get better information on the board for me.

by the looks of it that is probably an AM2/AM2+ board but im only positive on the AM2 so lets find out what were dealing with, for instance you have Alot of ram really especially for ddr2.
i keep getting a runtime error AND I ACTUALLY HAVE 5GB OF DDR2 RAM. My bad :\
5GB's of it? Hell dude 4GB DDR2 Is probably what i'd recommend all gaming system at least have, course i would hope that the speed is at least 800Mhz but 667 Will Handle fine for WoW even and most games will still run decent.

You rly probly just need a Graphics card At the momment, i'd expect the mobo to take 8GB's of ram seeing as it's already got 5GB

their should be more CPU support, but since i can't verify the Board i cannot tell.
Was the computer custom build or purchased? Does it have a name
Example: HP PAvillion x1023
Acer aspire one
etc..
kind of..

the exact processor is amd phenom 9550 quad core 2.20ghz
i have a stock hp media center pc except for the graphic card i updated a year ago.
the monitor it came with is hp w1907

i dont know the exact computer number/model.
i'll checkout the processor to see what kind of board's it uses.

Have you looked on the computer anywhere to find something
A Name

an example again is: Compaq presario SR1N018x
m8530f media center pc

wow sorry, didnt think about the sticker that was facing the wall its next to ;p
lol i might need a BRAND name to but ill try that
hp.
ok i'ma lay this out for yeah it is an asus socket AM2+ motherboard
your ram supports go up to 1066Mhz 8GB DDR2 so your still fine for Ram.
It has a PCI Express 2.0 x16 that is the standard ur very much fine their.
this is actually a decent computer still very.

i am unable to find any information as to bios updates etc for AM3
so im assuming only AM2/AM2+ CPus are going to work.
so in other word's yeah i mean Most AM2+ boards especially with asus are getting a new bios update for new Am3 six-core CPU's but this one doesn't look like it. Best CPu upgrade is an AMD Phenom II X4 920 2.8ghz 8MB L2 Quad core cpu and for some reason that's priced the same as current am3 models eh...........rly you could just hack in a new gpu and see how long that lasts you or get an alienware, or even CUSTOM BUILD, i don't think you will be happy with mac's for gaming, especially on the price side of things. 350-watt psu definitely wont do it any further then maybe a 5570 for Video cards.. might power a full 9800 gt
