websites of any kind are only as safe as you are with your information and PC security, that is my opinion anyway.
Depends on ppls "internet awareness" some ppl click on all links saying that youre awesome and you have won a million bucks by just coming to a site. For those ppl it isn't really safe.
if you want safety unplug your computer right now lol

long as you have a decent protection setup on your computer you should be alright.......however theres always a way to cause intensional damage at any time regardless of countermeasures
A number of comments suggested use security etc. as with sex use latex (linux) or just don't do it, if you want to be safe, no program is completely safe, no PC is completely safe, there is always some Smart A_s out there who can break a codes etc. security problems come with the territory, but having said that, basic security is not enough, some of the banks have the right idea, but all the people sites like twitter & facebook need to be beefed up in the security area
I don´t use Twitter and Facebook anymore.
Not because of the viruses but for other reasons.
I noticed that if you "delete" your account on Facebook, it wont be deleted, just disabled.
Everything is still there, but not accesseble.
Damn, why did I join Facebook in the first place?

If you put stuff on the internet, it will stay there forever.
It doesn't matter if you delete your own content.
It will have spread elswere, seconds after you have posted it.
I can tell you this, your content will have different meaning on different websites.
Regardless of all this, the sheer amount of Personal Information shared on these sort of sites - especially by "unaware" teens - is FAR more dangerous than some Virus/Worm...

Posting your Name (first or full), Address (or at least city), School name - along with dozens of pictures of you at these places - is just a timebomb waiting to go off (but luckilly it rarely does!).

Add to this the automatic accepting of EVERY "Friend" offer (though much more notorious on Myspace) - and the urge to click on ANYTHING these people send them - and it just gets worse.

As for viruses, these sites are just as vulnerable as any other - but with the sheer volume of users, they are FAR more tempting targets for Spammers and Abusers.
Once you put your information on the internet, its public. So don't put anything on there that you don't want some random person to see.
yah that is not safe -__-!!!!
IMPMAC
ooo ok... that is really a good answer
It all depends on what you do. Mainly your awareness lol.
i still think twitter and facebook maybe is not that safe.. i think twitter and facebook shouldnt be spam..
if spam in facebook a lot of my frens will hide.. lol
so there is now way to keep facebook safe?? to make the password more harder to break or what>??
