More Information

Just read an interesting post on the Huffington Post, saying that Google are saying "the end of the desktop computer is in 3 years" and it got me thinking, that the desktop computer is kinda ending, not to say like the Macintosh or the Dell PC's are going to end, but like Google said in the post "The Mobile Device is taking over the way we use our tech, very fast". and is it?, are mobile devices going to be the killer of the desktop computer?

I sure as hell hope not!
I Will never get rid of my desk top, and I think a lot of people would agree.

I cannot see my self gaming or building web sites on an Iphone, granted the new mobile devices are amazing and wouldn't mind having one my self, they at this point any way, cannot re-place the desktop.

no, i can't stand mobile devices, the most mobile device i would use for internet is a netbook.
Curious...
Desktops will always be faster, better...

The more place you have to put something in, the more you can put it :-)
why would that happen why would people throw away there computers for that reason
i ment desktops not computers
not going to happen for a LONG time. You can not beat the power and customization of a desktop.
+1
Mobile devices will never take over any kind of computer. They have small screens, can't have anywhere near the specs of a decent desktop, and are a lot harder to type on (even if it has a physical keyboard, does anyone here type faster on their phone than on their computer?)
Yes people are browsing the web more on their phones/tablets but that's probably only when they aren't at a computer or if their computer is being slow/doing too much to also be browsing the web.
That's all BS. There's absolutely no powerful productivity capabilities in mobile devices. Maybe in 30+ years we'll see an extremely powerful device that fits in a briefcase, but for now, one NEEDS the desktop as it is a machine of extreme capabilities. Even if there was such a device as I mentioned, it wouldn't replace a the desktop, because as portable technology becomes more powerful and more advanced, so will the desktop.
