Kirk I reckon.
Mainly because he is the original and I've seen more episodes with him as captain Vs Picard
Picard. Janeway is a close second. Kirk gets on my nerves.
I used to be a Kirk man, but now I think Picard is definately the best.
captain jean luc picard The best and even had to deal with the BORG
Picard is the best by far. Janeway is a very close second if not a tie. Kirk annoys me and Riker as Captain was potentially more annoying than Kirk (and that's a lot of annoyance.)

I grew up on TOS, Loved TNG & Voyager, loved SOME of the movies....

The best two movies by far are the search for Spock and the new timeline Trek.....

The worst movie, in my opinion was Star Trek, "The Undiscovered Money... I mean country....)
I believe Picard & Janeway are the two best Star Trek captains. Both of them had to deal with the Borg, and both had moral issues to deal with. Kirk was the first on the screen, but Archer actually came before Kirk from a timeline point of view. I liked Archer's stories because he set the pace for the rest.
Kirk all the way! Of course Im not bias or anything... (my name is Kirk) :-)
I used to be a steadfast Kirk Fan. I just watched the original series so many times that when a show was on for five minutes (or less) I could tell you the whole story line.

TNG was on for many more years. I like Picard a lot better. I think that they could have kept going with that series.

I hated how they ended DSN. They could have done so many other things with the Sisco character.

I also think that they could have expanded immensely with Pike.

I think that they could have done a lot more with Janeway's character after they finally came back to Earth. Like maybe do a new series on Star Fleet Academy.

I wasn't in love with the Archer character. The show seemed to be just a rehash of the original series. It seemed to be just stealing story lines except for when the Dr. Sung saga kicked in.
kirk FTW.
Picard - Dare I say that Patrick Stewart was a way better actor and more believable in character than William Shatner? Kirk's advantage is and always was Lenord Nimoy as Spock. I think we could create a whole new series by establishing a poll to keep characters.
I agree with this. William Shatner I believe is when they wanted to refresh stories with a pretty face.

As for Patrick Stewart he was a good actor. He was very believable as the captain of the ship. He portrayed confidence and overall just seemed more in tune with the actual character that he was playing without fakely over doing it.

Although I will say I love the character that William Shatner plays in Boston Legal. And that is more of his field if you will I think he has to be able to have some comedy in his acting to make it believable he just doesn't portray serious off as good as Patrick Stewart.
Depends on how you see them. KIrk was the brazen, hard-core, get it done kind of guy, so he was the best in the beginning of the series. The entire adventure felt new when the show started, and his ability to display a myriad of intense emotions made the show very real.

Picard, on the other hand, was the intellectual type dealing with an entire different set of aliens. His intellectual approach spoke well for Starfleet, and gave humans a fighting chance in a system that seemed to despise us. Kirk would have started a war at the drop of a hat, but Picard knew how to appeal to the intellect, and thereby help aliens save face without insulting us.

Personally, I prefer the Picard approach, but sometimes (as with Kirk) you just have to "man the battle stations" and get on with it.
