Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs. Both had huge contributions to the computing world.
Jack Kilby. Without Jack, or someone else just as smart and focused on the same problems, no personal computers.
I heard someone telling me about Dennis Ritchie being the most important. He created the C Language
Dennis would rank quite high, but I'm a hardware guy and have to go with Jack. I actually had an e-mail exchange with Dennis once upon a time (close to 20 years ago), so perhaps I ought to brag on that for extra geek points. Unfortunately, I no longer recall the subject.

See Dennis' Bell Labs page at: http://cm.bell-labs.com/cm/cs/who/dmr/

Lots of interesting historical links there.
