More Information

I recently upgraded to the latest video driver for my video card and since then the monitor just turns off when I click on a youtube video.

It doesn't do this every time, but there seem to be about a 50/50 chance of it happening. I looked on the nvidia forums and there are tons of complaints about this happening with 3D games.  The only 3D game I use on a regular basis is Minecraft and have had no problems with it.

I have installed older versions of the 9 series video driver and seems to help... for a while, then just as I think I fixed it, the monitor turns off again. The rest of the computer seems to keep working just fine and the only way I can get the screen to turn back on is to turn the computer off and then back on again (hard reboot with the on/off switch).

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm guessing it's the video driver since that seems to be the only change. How old of a driver do I need to go back to get this to stop?

I'm using a GeForce 9800 GTX

Windows Vista 32bit

Driver version 296.10 (Have used newer versions which seems to have caused the problem)

Try system restore to revert to your old driver that worked. Back up your files!

By what you said, maybe is the GPU drivers, restore to the old driver and maybe it can be solved.

I seriously doubt it's the driver. More then likely its the monitor itself, power supply or the hardware driver for the backlight tubes. If it's over 2 years old there is a good chance of this. If you have another monitor somewhere in the house swap it out for confirmation of this.

If the monitor itself keeps powering off, then its either the outlet, or the power source in the monitor itself. If you mean it keeps giving you "No Signal" from time to time, then its the drivers/Graphics card. Otherwise, your best bet is to try another outlet or power cable and if the problem consists then get the monitor replaced or exchanged. I hoped this helped you in some way.
