Need assistance on my home network if anyone can help me.
I've got 50mb broadband coming into my house and from the modem going into my 'D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router' (http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=565
) via what says on the cable 'CAT 5 Patch Cable UTP Net X'.
I have a Western Digital Home network hard drive (http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=587
) connected by 'CAT 5 Patch Cable UTP Evernew'.
Lastly I am connecting to my HP Compaq 6910p laptop (http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press_kits/2007/mobilitysummit/ds...
) via a 'CAT 5e Patch Cable UTP Evernew'
So that's my set up..sorry if its amateur or sloppy.
The problem I have is the speeds I've got transferring between everything. When moving something from my laptop to the hard drive and vis versa I can only get to speeds of 12mb/s and when I transfer wireless between the two I can only get speeds of 2.6 mb/s max.
What can I do to improve this? Is is my equipment? i.e. laptop, router or cables?
I have read that you can get speeds of 100mb/s from a CAT 5 cable but I am getting no where near this.
Would anyone be able to assist with my problem pleaseeeee??
Thanks in advance
