Showing their propensity for tardiness, the state of Texas is just now getting around to banning Vista from government computers because one state senator has heard "of the many reports of problems with Vista."

You know what? We've said it before, and we'll say it again: Vista being a hideous abomination that eats computers is mostly a bad urban legend. It had a bumpy launch, but things are just fine now, and have been for a long time. (Windows 7 is still better, though.)

But still: Vista launched so long ago that Microsoft's next OS is on the horizon, and they're just now getting to banning it because some senator on the Finance Committee who probably can't figure out how to use an iPod has heard some bad things about it? Really? It's nice to know government decisions aren't simply based on whims and hearsay. Oh wait. [ComputerWorld]

That is pretty humorous at this late date. I wonder how much money and time was really spent to make it officially banned?
This is funny. I have Vista as well and even with the bad reputation it has received I don't have any of the issues everyone has been speaking about. Hmm maybe it's because I know how to use my Ipod. :)
lol
Am surprised the government is even using a consumer OS. They must have their own top-secret OS. They probably have somewhere up the food chain!.
very much doubt that IMPMAC, there would be little advantage to using their own secret OS and frankly there would be so many problems with things like file support, premissions support, protocol support particularly if they have a domain (which i suspect they will have) they would have to either code a server version of their secret OS to interact with the clients or configure their clients to use microsoft protocols with a windows (or linux or mac) server, which would just defeat the whole object of having a secret OS to begin with..

O, there are still a lot of problems w/ Vista, you know there is problems when MS releases a new OS so soon, or offeres XP downgrades to businesses, or when MS advertises Vista under a different name.

liek......

Windows "Mojave"

LOL....wow
Microsoft= Fail
"microsoft = fail"

yeeuup.
They didn't advertise it as "Mojave", the commercials were to show that people who say "Vista sucks" are people who have never used it, and that when you change the name of Vista, people like it.

Not that everyone would like it without Pre-concieved distaste, just that a great Majority of Vista-hate is done:

A) By people who haven't used Vista.
B) By people who haven't used SP1.

I don't even have SP2 and I've never had problems with Vista.
Anyhow, until the day someone pays me to, I'll never use Vista. Heard wayyyy to much negative stuff about it, and every time I have to help someone who use it, I start swearing after about 10 seconds.. sometimes up to 30.. but rarely more than that.
OMG..I have heard it all now. That sort of reminds me of how things can be in any community. Some people refuse to dig in to learn something so, they spread the word that something is bad.

Can anyone said.....GO TO SCHOOL SENATOR?
Can anyone say*

...lol, fail
