More Information

With most 8gb+ cards getting cheaper and cheaper some of us out there have smaller USB drives just sitting around doing nothing. So, I was thinking "What would be some good uses for these drives?" I have thought a few of them and wanted to know if there are any other suggestions others might have.

1. Use it as a portable SNES, NES emulator

2.Create a physical key for your computer, so it only boots when your USB is inserted.

3.Use it for your own portable Linux operating systems.

Any more suggestions?

i just carry my 1 and 4gb drives around. my 1gb has installs on it and my 4gb is for making copies of data i like when at friends houses.
Good one on the installs. It gave me the idea to put some drivers on one of my sticks.
Are you converting them to spoons or forks? :P
spoons ftw
old flash drives make great os media......canceling out the need for a noisy optical drive :)
Surely having one physical key for your computer is risky? What if it broke?
I use a 1 gig to keep medical info on it and put the red cross on white circle symbol on it so if I'm injured or sick and unable to communicate with responders they can use it to get all needed info such as allergies and medical conditions and medicines I'm taking.
One small problem. Someone wants to do you in all they need is that drive and they know all of the best ways to kill you. =\

Sometimes it's beneficial to think like a serial killer. ^_^
Create a neat little hijacker routine and give it to my kids. Plugged into a school computer all those neat little restrictions melt away.
Not malicious. Comes complete with its own word processor, e-mail, anti-virus and security system. Why should I trust the school system to safeguard my children?
this is a little malicious, the melting the blocks part, and illegal. Besides, they have office on all the computers. I wouldn't go bragging about this.
Illegal? SInce when is surfing the internet, using a word processor, sending an e-mail, stopping a virus illegal? WHat country are you in? I even checked the fine print of the school code of conduct for using the schools computers. Says that the student will not circumvent the blocking of the school's web browser restrictions, that the student will not install any unauthorized software, and will not conduct any illegal activities from the school computer.

My kids use there own browser, not the schools. The stick does not install any software and the activities it allows are not illegal here. I admit I am using wiggle room by the use of the actual words "school's web browser" instead of what they might have intended "web browser".

Even if they were to circumvent the school's web browser restrictions this would not be illegal, nor even a civil case, since there is no contract with the school regarding the use of the computers.

Remember, surfing the web to a democracy related web-site is "malicious" and visiting the home page of http://www.thomasbecketmiddle.w-sussex.sch.uk/ is not possible from many school web browsers.
