All of the above can cause a computer to run slowly.

Get busy. You have a lot of work to do since you seem to already have an idea of what to do?
And here is a really basic one that people overlook all the time: a full hard drive 95% to 100% full, which means no swap file for Windows or other operating systems. and if you do not have a lot of ram 3GB or more then you will run very slow and temporarily freeze and then crash. Clean out those junk files - I cleaned up one of my hard drives and it totaled to 8GB of extra free space.

Haha, pay $2000 for a over priced computer when I payed $1,200 that is 10X better in specs than my dad's Mac.

That was quite simply one of the best responses this post has had so far. ;)
Linux is better for servers, and Windows, well better for solitaire.
