More Information

Once it did recognize it but for some reason now it will not. I have the software loaded.

Anyway, now, no matter what USB port I use, it will not allow me to download the photos.

Any suggestions?

When you plug the camera in to the USB port, do you get the Windows "bloop" sound like it is identifying the hardware?

And have you tried to hook it up to another computer just to check to see if your USB cable / camera connection is good? That is basically to test if the problem stays with your computer or follows your camera.

Is the cameras memory saved on those little SD mini cards, where you could just pop it out of your camera and put it into a USB card reader?

Also have you tried to go to your camera manufacturers website to check for new driver downloads or new camera software downloads?

And I am assuming that your problem is only with the USB camera and not every single USB device that you try.

When you plug in your camera to the USB port, is the camera already turned on or do you turn it on after you plug into the port?
In either case I would try it both ways, where the camera already is on and you plug into the USB port; and for a second time where the camera is off plugging it into the USB port and then turning your camera on. Sometimes it is just the method that shakes something stuck loose.

Oh by the way I would try to stick with using a USB port in the back of the computer and not in the front of the computer, because the front and the back USB ports most of the time use different chips. The ports in the front of the computer have extension wires that can come loose from either the motherboard or the front panel.

Hi Greg. When I insert the card, the computer doesn't make a sound.  I can't try it on another computer because I only have one.  No, I am not using another person's computer to try it.  Computers are personal and I do not like asking.  Nothing is wrong  with the driver as I have that updated.

I saw someone download from the SD card but not using a program with the camera.  It was a built in program that comes with most computers.  In fact, it was an old 486 running XP but mine is a lot newer and it is running windows seven.  Now, I have forgotten how they did it.  It looked simple at the moment.

I have reverted to using a card reader which I think is nuts since my computer should be able to do this for me.

First I would recommend is visiting the camera manufacturer's (Kodak) website and search through their support section. usually this is a driver issue. Best chance that there is an update available.

Ummmm... when asking support in a forum, discussionboard, ect, is best to include make and model of the peripheral giving the problem and make , model and operating system of the computer with the issue. Wouldn't want to give you Windows solution if you are using an Apple, for example.
