More Information

In the past year I have become quite the fan of the I touch technology that is the Ipod Touch, Ipad and of coarse the Iphone but who is more innovative by that I mean who is pushing the boundary's of technology more than the other personally I think Macintosh have pushed it further than ever with there devices but then Microsoft has created great code for there OS's but overall I believe Macintosh have created the most innovation towards the future.

I do think though we as in a whole are not doing enough towards the future of technology, what could be done now is likely to be done in 10 years.

Do you agree?

Microsoft makes really great concepts that never come to fruition. Apple doesn't really come out with concepts but actual products at highly anticipated events. So when it comes to producing actual products that take advantage of modern technology, I have to lean towards Apple. Here's to hoping Microsoft begins to focus more on consumers rather than big businesses when it comes to modern technology.
Apple. obviously
I agree with DTM.
Ok Apple doesn't make any of their crap, they make their software, they have companies most notably like foxconn to build their computers really, under their Logo etc. So it does make it their hardware, but they DID NOT in any means EVER create ANY of the TECHNOLOGY they claim to be "REVOLUTIONARY" because "ANYTHING" apple claims to be "REVOLUTIONARY MADE BY THEM" was not. Apple is to proprietary, they are always behind a good year in technology, i mean where can you find a Apple computer that is Socket 1336 (THE LATEST AND GREATEST INTEL SOCKET OF CORE i7 Processors) You can't find an apple computer with that, and the socket was introduced in 2008. Another year goes buy, and all apple has is the Socket 1156 Core i7-800 series, which are not as advanced options as the greater line in the 1336 platform, WHICH INCLUDES SIX-CORE CORE i7 CHIPS. You can see Apple is very behind, i HAVE Yet to see any implementation of several graphics as well, while not all the graphics in Mac's are bad, I ain't ever seen the options for even upgrading over what you get. No 5000 Series gefroce, i havn't seen anything higher then the much older 4870, i aint seen barely any of nvidia's Old 200 Series, I Seen a few, but i ain't seen anything over the geforce 250 crap, most of them were built in motherboard graphics if anything. The only place Apple keep's in touch with technology wise is Ram, and if anyone's going to tell me that OH WELL APPLE'S COMPUTERS ARE ALL-IN-ONE, SO THAT'S THE LATEST AND GREATEST FOR ALL-IN-ONE, UM No. We have Core i7 (32NM Brand new Manufacturing, All in one computers, from Companies like Lenevo, HP, Gateway, that also have Full Dedicated graphics, and more options are available. But i will Admit All in one is still a bullshit platform to even begin with atm. It's in works.

But most of Apple's line of computers are All-in-one anyway, and that's a proprietary issue as well, Because without having more then just 1 Desktop tower option, your even more hammered by the latest technology, Which may not FIT or even WORK with an All in one....

Like. With Microsoft, THEIR operating system JUST "WORKS" With any god damn computer out their, EVEN YOUR APPLE COMPUTERS. Microsoft has a dedicated team to making drivers, just as much as companies that Microsoft's OS's run on, From dell, HP, Gateway, Lenevov, MSI, ETC!, ASUS!, ETC!
THOSE COMPUTER MANUFACTURERS, ARE ALSO MAKING DRIVERS TO ASSIST MICROSOFT!
Yes, if Apple controls their own hardware etc, then the drivers will work even better most likely, but it's not all that worth it or great really, when your paying for over priced hardware that isn't even the latest technology (YET) anyway. And the majority of computers you buy today with Windows on it, the DRIVERS work, and companies like Microsoft and the manufacturer of your computer ARE ever working hard to keep you up to date with the latest drivers.

THAT IS WHERE MICROSOFT MAKES ITS MONEY, SURE Apple computers can remain proprietary themselves hardwarw wise, but imagine the competition if the Apple OS could be used on other computers that are much cheaper, and hence more powerful from other manufacturers, like those i've mentioned before.

At this point an Apple VS Microsoft in ANY HARDWARE, is an unfair comparison. You can only Compare microsoft to hardware with Video game consoles, as the Xbox 360 is the only REAL piece of hardware they have Made themselves.

So to answer your question of who is more Innovative?
A: The companies who make products that Microsoft OS can be ran on.

And yes i rambled, so some of my stuff may be hard to read, i apologize. But i stand by it
Nah gordon i read your stuff :P
we have all good explanations.

Damn my grammar sucks

Why say more. I say what Gibson said.
it is no only the hardware of the machine included it the prove, but it's worthless to explain, you won't understand anyways.
no no no, do explain A.V. I'm not going to Slam you away.

I just believe that "hardware" wise, a comparison between a company that has hardware made for them, versus a company that...doesn't make their own computers like Apple...is just unfair.

It's like saying, the Microsoft Xbox 360 is Better then Your ipod touch um...

-.- video game console versus, Cell phone, or Music/Video device. That wouldn't be fair cus #1 apple doesn't really have a video game console #2 Apple's games on the App store are more in competition with Portable hand held gaming then anything else, along with the cell phone gaming market.

Comparison's really have to be Fair. Apple makes all these things that Microsoft does not.
So it's really not fair, BUT like i said before, their are many companies that are making computers and other hardware devices. Exactly Like Apple does, and that's where Microsoft's software comes into play.

Apple's is like another Dell or HP to me, Only they control everything, this is not to say that Apple is the only one. But they are the only hardware manufacturer (Not creator of the technology itself) But apple does make their own Operating systems Specifically for it as well.

So what's innovating about the two, well that i could go on forever to, with Both sides getting it. Lol Apple is innovating because..... HP Dell and blah are because... blah blah blah!

Apple's game is the All-in-One platform, but they are pricey.
I do give Apple credit, believe it or not. I try not to biased and stuff, not a fanboy.
Tough call, because neither one of them do all that much in my opinion. Especially not when it comes to computers (windows, and Macs). The iphone was pretty innovative, but nothing apple has done since iphone OS 2.0 has been innovative in the slightest.

I guess Windows phone 7 is kind of innovative, its definitely different, but I don't think I like the look of it. And like what was said already, Microsoft does come up with some cool stuff that never quite makes it to reality, like currier was awesome.

So I think I would give it to Microsoft, but neither one of them are extremely innovative in my opinion.
If were talking hardware wise, then I'm gonna have to give it to apple and let me explain why. The Ipod. So, when the ipod was first developed your right, the hardware inside was not produced by apple, however the product itself was. They came up with the idea for the scroll wheel, the color and size, their software, etc. No one in this forum can site that the Ipod was not revolutionary HARDWARE for its time. Name the last time Microsoft produced hardware besides a web cam or a friggin mouse/keyboard combo....oh, or a zune.....thats what i Thought...lol And granted ever since the Ipod, the iphone SOFTWARE was pretty innovative in the way of the app store and the like, but it wasn't revolutionary in my eyes as we'd always been able to download games and what not to our phones. To me revolutionary is inventing something that couldn't be done before, IE. the ipod. I remember carrying around my cd player and my BOOK of cd's, I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like these days and most of the rest of you guys cant either or never even had to deal with it.

However if were talking about SOLELY hardware.........then I don't think either company has really made any strides in the past few years. Sorry guys, the Iphone is still a phone, the ipad is a stripped down tablet pc, and an imac wasn't even close to the first all in one. I can say that at least with microsoft they don't claim to be re-inventing the wheel when they release hardware, they merely say "hey, we changed some stuff, we think you'll like it" unlike apple who basically beats it into your brain that every piece of hardware they deliver is the worlds next big thing......just my opinion.
are you lost?

A COMPARISON WITH MICROSOFT AND APPLE ON HARDWAR IS UNFAIR.
I love repeating myself. You could of just simply said Apple, and because they made the ipod, Ipad, iPhone etc...fair enough REASOn.
you should for the sake of it back up why it's POS. with more reasons then just common issues that Operating systems them selves have, and issues caused by idiotic useage.

Otherwise my friend Dan the tech man, You look to biased just sayin it's total Pos in ur humble opinion without HUMBLE REASON!!!

GRASSHOPPER!
I don't think it's unfair. Each company can choose to do what they do. If one chooses to make hardware (or design it for others to make if people wish to split hairs), I don't see the reason to ignore that aspect of the company when comparing it to another who decided not to go that route. Innovation is innovation.
