Albert Einstein? Isaac Newton? Stephen Hawking?
Who is the greatest scientist? Or who has inspired you the most?

Personally I think Stephen Hawking is one of the greatest scientists of all time. Not just because of his work, but also because of his condition. I do not think that a lot of people would have been able to achieve what he has achieved while being in the condition he is in.. I must say that Stephen Hawking is the Scientis, or Physicist that has amazed me the most.

Now what about you?

Yeah... Suberb choices.
Nikola Tesla
^This. Anyone who can harness electricity without being killed is awesome in my book
Yeah.. I is the most important one. If I didn't chose Stephen Hawking, it would probably be him.
well if judging by who made the largest impact on the world it's not newton, nor hawkings.. none of them made any significant difference, at least not in their life time. Newtonian physics are used everywhere today, but knowing the physics of the solarsystem would not at all help ppl in newtons time... One who made a bigger difference is greek mathematician Pythagoras. I would probably see him as one of the greatest.
The combined effort of Leibniz and Newton on calculus probably had the greatest change ever, but not in their lifetime.. Da Vinci is also a worthy candidate but I still go for pythagoras and leibniz...
But still my favourite is einstein =) he made a huge change in everything in physics, Newtons theories were wrong, relativity was right. and that's huge!
If you're going by greatest impact on this planet - there is only one really that comes to mind - Albert Einstein....

If it wasn't for his theories and thoughts, we wouldn't have the Atomic Bomb....

Just see what he did...
Personally, I love Tesla and Hawking. And the Edison exhibit in the Smithsonian is excellent. But a couple of Scientists/Inventors none of you "geeks" has mentioned are Charles Babbage and Herman Hollerith.

I'll let you folks "Google" them and comment. I discovered them when doing a research paper for my BS degree in '95. I used online material from Cambridge University and my Teacher didn't even know how to properly credit it in the references. These guys were "geeks" before the invention of the automobile!
Hands down, Issac Newton. The Calculus. Enough said. Learn it.
Tesla is pretty awesome
the first person to communicate utilizing mathematics or the genius who invented curling?
