At work I replaced a pc and the user threw a fit because it did not have a floppy drive. she claimed that she kept important files on her floppies and could not live without them, and no user could do without a floppy drive. I basically informed her that floppys usually require a special order and that she shouldn't be using it to save important files due to the high failure rate, she counted with that is how they share documents in the office......i informed her that her dept has a shared network drive and that they can easily email most of the documents they have, i then took her floppies and copied the data to her shared folder.

I have to wonder why people want to be so attached to this technology, especially considering what they charge for a pack of floppies you can by a small 1 or 2 gb usb drive that will hold tons more data (actually i mentioned this to her cause she told me she has a few shoe box's of floppies at home, and she said those things are no good, she bought won and it didn't work and will never buy one again)

and just cause its funny, the company i work for has a box of a dozen 5 1/4 floppies still sealed in the box

i havent seen a floppy drive in sooooo long, there really is no need for them now, i recon that people need to accept that there is better technology avalible
well when you work for companies that don't want to replace a pc unless they start smoking, its hard to get people out of that mindset
yeah, well when you lose productivity due to a failed pc and you have no replacement, especially when i work for a fuel distributor, which means everything is time sensitive due to real time costs
I work at a school and we do a clean install. However, its hard to do sometimes when there's a lot of stuff going on. I guess it depends on the district. We are in pretty good shape compared to other districts in Texas though.
I just buiult a new gaming computer, and put a floppy drive in it, I love Floppy drives, but thum drives and E-mail is nice too.

yea i agree floppy drives ftw... i wish i still had a 5¼ inch floppy drive, i ahve an old game on a few disks that i would like to play lol.
i still have my windows 3.1 floppies all still work and i use them lol
I can't remember the last time I used a Floppy disk. I don't think I actually have a computer with a floppy drive anymore...*thinks*
Ollie =]
i do have one on my desktop becuase when i purchased it, it came from dells outlet store, and it had the config i wanted except for the floppy, but i figured with the money i saved buying it the way i did, it wasn't a big deal
Actually it's still a pretty simple IN & OUT!
Don't be to sure :)

i was reading some computer horror stories on-line, and if I can find it, i will post it here. But floppy drives ((Just getting the disks in and out)) can be a BIG problem for some people.

That's what she said
I haven't seen a floppy in ages. The last time I used one was in 2001... I don't have a computer with a floppy drive anymore.

But some people still use mice with those horrible balls on the bottom... For f*ck's sake, a $2 optical mouse from your nearest grocery store is a massive upgrade already...

The worst, however is the unwillingness of letting go from OSs. My mum uses a PC with Windows 2000 at work... Even though it's one of my favourite Windows OSs of all time, still - 9 years have passed.

For f*ck's sake get with the times, alright already!
