More Information

I recently noticed that more and more devices are now using Bluetooth. Webcams, headsets, microphones ETC. Also, a lot of computers (mostly notebooks) now have built-in bluetooth.. What could this mean? Will bluetooth be more common in the future? Will it take over USB?

What are your thoughts?

One answer, NO.
really, im kinda hoping it will be, it will make life so much easier
Agreed usb 3.0 is actually going to start shipping soon well later half of this year
No! Let's take out the installed os. Let's imagine that you want to install an os or overclock or make same changes on the bios, in order to contol your pc you need a keyboard. With out drivers and an os controling the connection of the keyboard and the bluetooth card you would be able to do anything! Moreover, bluetooth is not as stable as it should be.
I am in agreement with A.V.
"Bluetooth is not as stable as it should be"
I think that USB is maturing better and esp. since Mac and Win7 OS has taken a lot of the guess work out of USB... And USB3 is on the horizon...
Bluetooth has not gone through the widespread acceptance as USB and granted bluetooth wireless keyboards and mice work ok but I have had difficulties in the past with the devices dropping off and other types of bluetooth devices getting cranky and not working consistantly - etc. Plus security is also an issue.
Bluetooth is really slow and not something that i see as a performance technology just the novelty of being able to send that picture of a girl in your school is really appealing lol (totally legal) and her own fault.
as cool as bluetooth is, usually its more expensive (at least in my experiences); that and usb 3.0 is coming out soon; usb is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Plus, there are so many USB devices compared to bluetooth; its not going anywhere anytime soon
I would of possibly named this is Firewire going to take over USB personally again i think not but its a better arguement

Plus the entire point in USB is for it to be the number one thing all devices can run on/ use

hence the name Universal serial bus the key is in the universal part.
No. Until they can manage over the air power transfer, wired physical connections will remain king. Security is also a consideration, it's easier to grab data from the air than a physical connection. I'm not overly fond of USB either from a technical standpoint. It consumes too many CPU cycles for what it is. We just don't notice it any more because CPU's are just so powerful. When USB 3.0 hits the mainstream we may start seeing that overhead return, and all these low powered cheap machines we see everywhere now will be the first to suffer when they start putting USB 3.0 into those things.

LightPeak will be the next big thing if they implement and market it properly.
Until Bluetooth can handle more than one device at a time, USB will be here. Bluetooth 7 devices, (have to see that), USB 127 on one port (want to see that set up too).
7 is more then one....
I know that, it's just I've only been able to hook up one at a time. I read somewhere that you can hook up 7, never been able to do it. Tried to use a BT keyboard and BT headset at the same time. Could get one or the other, not both
