Will 'Places' turn you away from Facebook?

Why do you say it is like showing everyone where you are? I haven't used it personally, but wouldn't it be like your profile, how you set some things like phone numbers to friends only rather than everyone?

I signed up for a Twitter but I don't tweet. I just use it to read other's tweets. It's unlikely I will use "Places". People have no business knowing where I am at unless they're invited or they need to know. If they need to know or I really want them to know, Ill take the better route and tell them personally.
