i been using windows 7 64-bit version but its been a hassle the whole time and im thinking if i should downgrade to the 32-bit version of it but it just worries me becuase the 64-bit version should be soo much faster then the 32-bit version (when i mean but faster as in multitasking, gaming, downloads, etc.)

so what would you guys/girls use in that kinda way

the majority of fast and efficient applications are still only for the 32 bit realm, and run slower in a 64 bit environment

the only reason to go 64 bit is to allocate more memory than 4gb....otherwise stick with 32
ya good point i guess ill just stick with it till everything is 64-bit then upgrade to 128-bit (if it ever comes out)
What issues are you having? I been using Windows 7 64bit for awhile now and only had one issue and that was with an unsigned driver (only one).
well programs freeze up, games slow down often, and sometimes out of nowere if just uses 87% of my RAM (i have 4Gb worth of RAM)
actually dude like reaper has already mentioned, the vast majority of everyday services on windows machine are 32-bit and will for the most part stay 32 bit for a while to come. Going 32 to 64 does nothing for multitasking, games, etc. unless the software is optimized for it to use the new addresses. Which is why for the most part if I've got just an e-mail/web machine I'm building for a customer I'll stay 32 so the majority of the software they have from an 98/xp era will still probably work fine, if its work related I'll go 64 so when the memory needs upgraded I don't have to do much.

You might try turning off some of the extra background programs and services that might be running while your trying to game. What are your full system specs? What AV are you using?
my full system specs are
"acer aspire 4520"
"120Gb HHD hard drive"
"350Mb intigreted video card"
(im not sure whitch AV im using its a laptop ill look it up later)
"Dual Core AMDx64 over clocked at 1.8Ghz" (i would like to over clock it in a properly way but i dont got and good programs and my Bios wont let me)
Your laptop is actually fairly old by mobile standards. If the cpu is overclocked at 1.8 (i'm assuming here that your original clock would of been around the 1.6 range) and your slower than dog crap its probably because its an amd mobile processor. AMD has made some pretty crappy laptop processors in the past, low cache amounts, run hot, etc. The fact that your running a 120gb hard drive tells me that the laptop is at least 2-3 years old or maybe more, and the fact that its an AMD Acer laptop tells me its probably a cheap setup even when it was new. I recently had to deal with a dual core amd laptop around that spec with high cpu and ram usage in vista, sad thing about it is that theres nothing you can really do with it because you can't upgrade the cpu to one with more cache since its on a laptop (the ones you can aren't worth the hassle). So..........in closing, assuming your not running fifty million things in the background, the cpu is your bottleneck, more precisely the cache sizes of it. Your not going to get that much better performance by going to 32 bit, although it might help "a little". Its just a rule of thumb that newer OS's are made to run on newer hardware and especially with laptops it just gets to the point where some things just cant be helped.
dam your dead on man but... i got it as a gift and they said if costed them $999.99 when they got it...i been thinking of buying a new computer and putting ubuntu back on this one
oh ya what kind of laptop would you reconnmend for gaming and huge ass multitasking
Go with an intel I series laptop, they have big caches and are great multi-taskers.
true.... i have been eyeing the new acer laptop thats in the store and it had a strong 2.4Ghz intel dual core processer !5 i think and it has a 500Gb HHD drive in it so i might get it
Could you first explain why it should be so much faster and what software are you running. Most popular software is 32 bit. Leo Laporte doesn't even use 64.
