More Information

Hello Geeks,

ps. I apologize in advance for my English, second language, blah blah blah

I had a conference lately about World 2.0 and the influence of the modern media, since this community is a product of that modern media, i'd like to start a discussion about this topic to see your opinion on how modern media is changing the world

We had 3 lectures which addressed several topics. The speakers warned us about keeping the upper hand. On the long run, we might end up being 'ruled' by the information we are getting. We might not make decisions for ourselves, we might be commanded by information. The speaker also talked about the changing world economy, it's now becoming one big economy, we gather products and services from all over the world, it's all getting bigger and bigger. Also, there was a discussion about the influence of language. We started out with books, newspapers and all kinds of written information. Now, we get information from all over the web. Our ways of communicating are changing into short messages that might not be longer then 140 characters

So, wat do you (if you read this, you are definitely into those changes) think about all this. Is the world changing into one big economy, where knowledge is everything, the world economy is changing, and we might be able to communicate in just 140 characters? (not to mention, communicate about information we are already getting)

By the way, i'm just trying to start this discussion, because i thought this community might be interested. I'm really curious on how you look at this

Greets,
Nico (Also Nico on IRC)

changing the worlds economy, that is preety challenging and hope to be changed only for progress and not only political talks
I dont know what you are exactly talking about, my reference of changing world economies include the entire world, not to mention politics off course, but i'm not trying to start a big political discussion here. I just want to talk about the way that social media is changing the world itself. It's true, the politics are also changing, but you could argue, that everything is affected by these changes. except off course the animals, which are not so compatible with social media (yet)
