Geek Out!

At school on Friday, I was getting a little bored, so I grabbed one of the school's Macbooks, connected to the school's network and clicked "Browse". At the time, I didn't mean to, but then I saw a list of every single computer on that network. I clicked one of the Macbooks, and it showed me it's status. At the top of the window, it said I was connected as VLC. Right then, I realized, under the right circumstances, I was in complete control over any Mac machine in my school. I clicked Screen Share, and since I didn't have Administrator rights, I just had to keep requesting permission, to essentially, take control of someone else laptop and be almost a complete jerk, wirelessely. I then overheard a person I know call the teacher over. He was complaining that someone "hacked into my laptop" and was taking control of everything. He thought the school's network administrator's stories of being able to do what I was doing was some scary myth to keep kids on educational websites. Well, he was wrong.

My friends were telling him, look at Beloff (my last name)! He's the one almost dying of laughter over there! It's obviously him! I denied them, trying to say it was possible at all to do such a thing. The best part is, you can do this type of thing with an iPod touch...

He fought to keep the mouse away from the search bar when I typed in "sexy guys", let's just put it at that. I'm not into that type of thing, but it would've been funny. Besides, the school blocks a lot of sites. Even Geeks, unfortunately.
lol I did that to my sister once over ichat
Nice.

LOL i would love to do that
I did it again today, but today I was also karma's bitch.

You see, a girl I like had it happen to her. When I wasn't doing it. Do the math.

It's very secure. It's a feature with Mac OS X Leopard.

But: Network Administrators are usually very smart when it comes to... networks. I got caught today, a slap on the wrist, but that should show as a warning to you. Just how I got caught, I don't know, but I did, and it won't happen again.
