Update: Been roasting my own coffee now for about a month.  Having a great time. Results are  actually quite good, although I'm hoping to fine-tune my technique. Got beans from SweetMarias.com and "roaster" (air popcorn maker) from Target. The model there had the right kind of hot air vents to spin the beans, not push them upwards. Not as good as the Lavazza beans I buy, but I'll keep working at it. Only drawback - roasting sometimes sets off my smoke alarms.

I've decided it's time to take the plunge. I'm buying some green coffee beans, an air popper, and I'm going to roast my own coffee. Wish me luck.

I recently bought some Starbucks coffee from my local store. It was brilliant.

Coffee prices are so crazy that I've decided to start roasting my own. Found a great site with lots of useful info called Sweet Maria's (http://www.sweetmarias.com/index.php). I'll let y'all know how it works out. By the way -- where is everyone?

I attended a coffee convention here in Seattle a couple of weeks ago. Makes me want to open a coffee shop, but I'd drink up all the profits. They sure did make good coffee there. Picked up some terrific coffee from a roaster based in Bellingham, WA -- here is the company's blog: http://guadalupescoffee.blogspot.com/ (Disclosure: I am NOT affiliated with this company, but I do like the coffee. Yum.)
