As with anything in computing its a moving target. There are probably a few sites that explain the basics but if your looking up information to buy you will be better served by typing the name of the part into Google and checking out reviews. Usually I check for reviews that are done on a reference system that is fairly similar to my own. Motherboards will seldom yield a difference that is significant from one to the other when you are comparing apples to apples in the performance arena specially when the same hardware is plugged into them however a more expensive premium board will usually offer a refined BIOS with a lot more overclocking and tweaking options. Overclocking is an area that everyone should be proficient in these days both for graphics and for the chip. With smaller, less power hungry chips on the rise it is easier to peg a serious overclock with a minimal sacrifice of thermals and voltage.

He kind of only asked about information to learn about motherboards and graphics cards, not what he should buy. :P
