Now here's an interesting question. The typical image of the college student's diet is more than likely composed of three food groups: ramen noodles, pizza, and alcohol. My question to the cooks/chefs, are there perhaps some relatively inexpensive meals for someone not afeared of cooking? I'm not afraid to whip out the skillets, baking pans, and all that kind of fun stuff. However, I find myself buying simple food (which is fine but gets a bit boring) like spaghetti and a lot of these boxed food things (add water, bake whatever).

this last top chef's TV show in 2009 had the contestants cook 3 course meals in dorm rooms using a hot plate a microwave oven and a toaster oven, nothing else. they had to cook enough food for 6 judges, and the dorm's occupants. so thats a lot of food to cook in that type of setting. but it was done and was up to restaurant standards and only done in 3 hours i think? might have been 4 hours? but one chef used a cleaned bathroom shower to cool down his huge pot of pasta after he cooked it in the room. no one ever thought of that now did they? one chef cooked steaks on the hotplate and in the microwave oven to get them finished fast. and another even did a shrimp dish, not your normal college food. if you can find the top chef's web site you should check it out. not sure what channel it is shown on where you live or at all? but here it is on the "bravo" cable TV channel.
