Can a regular monitor work with a mac? (or macbook)

I have a laptop (windows vista) I hate windows (it sucks) I love apple and mac and I have recently went to a apple store and love the macbooks and want to get the one that is $999, I'm going to get a monitor for my laptop (i need one bad) and was wondering if it would work on a mac? like maybe a DVI to DVI mini adapter?

yea, it will work fine as lot as you have a mini dvi adapter.
thanks! I just wanted to make sure!

Of course it will work. A Mini-DVI to VGA or DVI adapter is all you need.
They're about $19 or £15.
thanks I just wanted to make sure.
Yeah it can. just keep in mind that a macbook "13"" can only support the maximum resolution of 1920X1200 so i guess a 24" would be the maximum.

lol, lets make this easy, you should plugin with no problem in any lcd with dvi support, just need the right adapter, and as "ben" said keep in mind, that you shouldnt go further than a monitor 24".
ok good because I'm getting a 20"
thanks
Since no one mentioned it, make sure your monitor has the input for--at minimum--VGA. Converting over to composite connections (RCA) is a true pain.

Assuming is a two part result and I am not going to partake in either part.
You will have no issues with the Mini-DVI to DVI or VGA adapter (depending on what your monitor will accept)
Make sure you have the right adapter setup, I have a 42" HD LCD TV in my room and i used the mini-DVI with a DVI to VGA adaptor then a VGA to VGA cable to connect it to the TV, it's a bit of a pain..
