If you guys want better performance from you pentium 4 with it's stock cooler try grinding down the lobes on the grey clips, that will keep your motherboard from being warped and the thgermal paste will be alot better because there's some air space for the heat to circulate, you'll find that your heatsink is hard to touch but that means it's working :) Mine is alot faster now too.

You can go furthure than 4ghz, Intel didn't make it an i7 for just 4 :) I've seen people take old school pentium 4's up to 5ghz! Trust me, the i7 can do alot more :) I might get an aftermarket board for my pentium 4 Williamette 478 and see how high it goes since the intel motherboard doesn't overclock. It only runs at 1ghz stcok but is rated at 3ghz and it is bone cool to the touch after some Halo.

I just got my i7 920 over 4 Ghz, so far everything is stable so I am going to upgrade my ram cooling and go after those next.

Got my godlike graphics card to maximum mhz with maximum resolution using my brothers tv. It ghosted a little but it was fast!!!

Good news :) My pentium 2 got close to 700mhz! It is rated at only 500. Got it to run max while maintaining only 70oc. It ran at 5.5volts with turbo mode enabled and set to 100mhz fsb :)

Also for those who use amd, amd motherboards won't turn off if ever the system overheated, in fact Amd's will continue to burn until it's up in flames. Intel however has motherboards that won't shut off the computer but reduces the speed till cooling is reastablished. If the cpu coninues to overheat then it will shut down.

My cpu runs at stock clock speed, it's a E4500 Core2Duo socket Lga775. The motherboard has no clock settings but it atomatically overclocks during games/ benchmarks. The graphics card whih is a ATI Radeon HD 4870 xxx Edition is factory overclocked but Can go higher through the software (I didn't even need it to go higher!) Here is my system.
