As many of you may well know Ubuntu 9.10 is coming out officially in 11 days, but a beta is out there for anyone to try. I'm currently running it but it feels being rather early Alpha... Has anyone tried installing it? What do you think?

I've been using Karmic since it's early alphas (June-Present) and it's been stable for me. Now that it's in beta it is much more polished, and have not had any significant issues. What are you experiencing?
Funny you should mention 9.10, I recently downloaded the AMD64 ISO and installed it on my custom built desktop and Dell M1530 and did experience a little bit of strangeness during the install and afterward.

Desktop install - This went cleanly for the most part, however it looks like during the reboot phase it continuously threw an error, i could see the same few lines of text repeated indefinitely as it flashed the background wallpaper. I had to manually kill it and reboot. After, i installed whatever partial upgrade was available and installed my hardware nvidia driver through the tool.

Dell M1530 - This install went similarly to the desktop, had to manually partition it to delete my other linux distro and make the ubuntu partitions. The shutdown problem occurred on my laptop so i was again forced to kill it and reboot, which brought ubuntu up, I did the partial upgrade and installed my nvidia driver through the hardware drivers tool. Rebooted and installed the Broadcom STA driver which, after it said was activated, froze Ubuntu completely. Was required to use the power switch on this one and after a reboot, wireless was working correctly.

That's my experiences with 9.10 sofar, haven't had it on my systems for more than 3 hours so I'm sure something else will rear it's ugly head.
Hi,

I have installed 9.10 beta and I don't have too much trouble with it too far except for some package that are not translated yet (in French).

The only major issue I had was with Eclipse 3.5: the package available in Synaptic has a non-working software update... so you can't install new plugins!

Hopefully, I did a manual install (http://johnpaulett.com/2009/06/26/install-eclipse-galileo-3-5-on-ub...) and then applied this workaround
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eclipse/+bug/443004/comme...

Now, I got Eclipse with software update working.
It didn't recognize my 9600GT, so I've edited xorg.conf manually and than tried older drivers one by one. Certain services keep crashing from time to time and now there is some very strange delay right after all gnome panels have already loaded it just freezes for about 2 mins.
You didn't download straight from Nvidia? Those are the latest.
Two days to go. I think I'm gonna go in blindly - completely upgrade from 9.04 (no looking back).
