but it's hard to sync an iTouch with SongBird.

Unless they've released an update for the iPod plugin that fixed it...

I am loving Ubuntu 9.04, I wiped off vista when I installed it(intentionally) and then thought crap, I need windows to sync my iphone. opps. Anyways, it I am really enjoying it. It seems slicker. Boots up faster, seemed very polished and I have had no problems thus far. Hats off to the Ubuntu crew!

I took the Software Updater approach to upgrading to 9.04 64bit on my desktop and laptop a week or two ago and have no complaints. Went without a hitch.

Sudo - su'ing to root is never a good idea. In most IT shops sudo is the required or preferred method because it's more difficult to destroy a system. Sudo also logs your tracks better and it's easier to restrict what actually can get done by restricting whats in the sudoer file.

Joomla Install - JRela2000 just head over to Jumpbox.com. They have a VM of Joomla pre-installed with all of the prereq bits. And the Joomla Jumpbox is FREE!

I have a AMD 64 X2 4800 but I run currently 32 bit 8.10 I have 3.5 gigs but I just run 32 bit to be honest does it matter 64 or 32 only if you have 4 gigs or more
lastly even though 9.04 is in alpha 6 it is still beta it would be best to install 8.10 or even 8.04 and when 9.04 is released updated as a update.
No this is not Vista it is a learning curve but I tell you this Dave being using Windows well to long this Ubuntu system is amazing. It is very straight forward design everything you need is right there that is what you want in a system.
