iPhone: It's Not Easy If You Have To Explain It

Posted on September 20, 2009 at 2:23am 2 Comments

This post is inspired by this blog post I read a few weeks ago – The iPhone is not easy to use. I agree.

The other day I noticed this little bit of text in the App Store Genius page – ‘swipe to remove an item’.

In general, if you have to explain something, it’s not very… Continue

Negative slogans for Windows 7

Posted on September 20, 2009 at 1:27am 5 Comments

I thought it would be funny to come up with some 'negative slogans' for Windows 7. I can just imagine these posted on billboards and put all over the Microsoft website. So here they are.

Windows 7. Our photocopier. Repaired. (reference to Redmond – start your photocopiers)

Windows 7. It’s like Mac OS.

Windows 7. Features you will never use. Refined.

Windows 7. Only six main editions, not including the ‘N’ versions, which are the same as… Continue

Everyone hates Apple

Posted on September 20, 2009 at 1:12am 3 Comments

Here's the story. A few months ago, Apple pulled all Google Voice-related apps from the App Store after they had been up for months, informing their developers that their applications 'duplicated the core functionality of the iPhone'.

More recently, Apple rejected the official Google Voice client from the iPhone, giving Google the same 'core functionality' line. But, in their letter to the FCC, that was released on their website, Apple claimed that they 'continue to study' the… Continue

Time out with Dejal Time Out

Posted on September 1, 2009 at 9:00am 1 Comment

Lots of people use a computer for much of the day without many breaks. Although most of us do try to take breaks whenever we can, it's sometimes easy to get sucked into a 'time warp' as the hours fly past.

Enter Dejal Time Out, a free bit of software for Mac OS X that runs in the background to look after you. On a schedule that you define, Time Out will gently interrupt your work by slowly dimming your screen and… Continue

A great original game for us casual gamers

Posted on August 20, 2009 at 5:23am 0 Comments

Not everyone likes to shoot up people in some gory deathmatch game. And besides, games in that genre tend to get old fast. How many variations on shooting someone can there be?

Minecraft (above) is an awesome game! Don't even bother reading the rest of this post, just click the link.

Basically, Minecraft is a game world comprised of blocks of different colours and textures… Continue

Ah okay, very nice design.

I'm learning PHP at the moment actually.

I'm just finished all the dealing with arrays, files, functions, loops, and the OOP side of things. :)

I'm using this eBook which I find pretty good, to teach myself everything.

I'm just about to go onto chapter 9 - Databases!

It's the chapter I've been most waiting for since it's really how the whole user-side of things will work I guess. :)

I've done a little PHP and MySQL before but I finally decided to go all out and learn it all. ;)

I guess I'll need it if I want to create the enxt big Twitter-like web startup! ;D

Can I ask what age you are/what you work as (if you're employed in this climate!)

Minecraft looks like a fun game to play. I'll check that out.
