For games and such you might want to check out happypenguin.org, another cool source is getdeb and its spinoff playdeb, you might also try DJL-linux which is sort of the open source equivalent of the digital distribution tool steam.
If your interested in tweaking your interface at all (I do this non-stop just to get people to differentiate my Linux desktop from my windows ones and other tech) you might try playing around with compiz or theming your desktop.
I can't remember which windowing manager comes with xubuntu but I highly recommend installing gnome. I realize your trying to stay lightweight but if you say, make a profile when you log in for gnome and another for xubuntu default. Using the xubuntu for games and other such video intensive stuff and gnome for browsing, sites such as gnome-look.org become endlessly cool design tools.
