"The simple answer to your first question is as long as the card stays cool, and the right power, and its Clean power, you should be fine.   Most vid card makers are taking into account the fact that a lot of people try to overclock their chips,…"

"Thanks, I just emailed visiontek support, and they say that the card will shutdown at 116 celcius and that they consider it normal as long as it's under 100 I was kinda surprised as I can overclock my stock 775 core to 1000 mhz and only hit 82…"

Seeking Cooling Advice for Phenom II X4 and Visiontek 6850

Hi, I've been overclocking my visiontek 6850 and have some questions: 1.As a general rule of thumb, would I be correct to say "As long as your hardware has the right voltage, and is running cool and stable, then you are NOT damaging your hardware in any way?" Obviously the higher you overclock the more power you need, and the hotter it's going to get.... BUT if you can disperse the heat... does that mean it's fine for it? 2.If I am trying to cool my graphics card, how do I go about purchasing…See More

"They don't have to purchased in pairs, however doing so makes the risk of errors a lot less likely because of the same production cuts.   If he gets the same manufacturer, same serial/production  number as whats in there, he should be…"

GamePlaya replied to Cheddar's discussion 'Dual channel support with RAM'
"Nope, you need to buy them in pairs. You also need to place them in the correct slots. Consult with your motherboard's manual for the correct slots. If the slots are color coded, place pairs of the exact same RAM in the same colored slots."

Dual channel support with RAM

I'm not sure I understand how Dual channel support works...I currently have a 2GB Kingston PC2-5300 Stick of ram in my computer and a 512 Generic stick in the other... My question is, if I want to utilize dual channel support for my computer, is it possible for me to buy another 2GB PC2-5300 stick and have them work together?... I know usually they're sold in pairs, but I mean, does it even matter if it's kingston aslong as the size and speed are the same? Thanks-CheddarSee More

Backwards wireless networking...

I'm looking for a way to connect a network of LAN wired components to a wireless access point... I do not want to broadcast a wireless signal from a wired internet source, if I wanted to, I'd buy a router, and that'd be that...no, I want the exact opposite... I'd like to connect wired components TO a wireless signal... and I'd rather not use a computer... is this possible?... the end result needs to allow for my Xbox 360 and a Tivo to be able to connect to this network... and although you can… Continue
