Sticky Keyboard

I recently spilled a bit of soda onto my laptop keyboard. As normal, I flipped the computer over and got as much of the soda out from under the keys as I could. For a couple hours, I thought I was in good shape. That was, until the stickiness kicked in. I have an island style keyboard and I am not sure what exactly to do to get rid of this stickiness. The keys work... but they are sometime harder to press and get irritating. Is there some way to fix this problem without spending $50 for a…See More

You mentioned damaging the Mobo. Is this a laptop? If so, Google the make and model number and "how to remove the keyboard" This is usually pretty straightforward, involving a couple of screws, "snap" covers and a single ribbon cable. Then you can get the keyboard wet without worrying about the Mobo. Worst case, you can also usually find a replacement keyboard on the web. One place I have used for laptop parts is called "Apple Pals:", I believe they are in Missouri. But they don't charge a fortune for used parts. I even had a back light inverter arrive doa ( cost about $10-12), and they sent me a second one without making me return the original.

Years ago my wife and I were involved in a minor fender-bender. I was drinking a super-size Coke at the time and the thing spewed all over the dashboard controls, vents, etc. That was quite a job flushing out all of the soda, some of the buttons stuck for months after the incident.
