- Professional medical "Geek" and Internal medicine physician and professional medical informaticist leading statewide efforts to "wire" the health system in New York State as Deputy Director of health information technology in the NYS health department. Also a gadget freek at home - anything computer-like I love to play with!

- What are your "geeky equipment" specs?
- Dell XPS with dual monitors at home office, Dell latitude D620 laptop for work at home, Dell XPS with dual monitors at work, Linsys G home network, 32G iTouch. Planning on upgrading home system this fall and considering changing to Mac and running VM windows.
- What do you want to be when you grow up?
- I am probably the oldster here...and all grown up and very much enjoying my jos of clinical medicine and informatics working to use information systems to give better medical care. I don't plan to retire....just keep going!

- family and pets and my passive solar post and beam house on my 72 acre horse farm in the Adirondacks of NY

What could a medical social network look like in the future?

When we finally get the health system "wired" and you are communicating with your physicians and other members of the health care system, what will this look like? Will personal health information systems morph in to something more like a medical social network modificiation of Facebook? Will you be able to sign in to a system that allows you to link medical information sources recommended by your clinicians, join support groups for chronic diseases, get the latest medical news relevent to you… Continue
