"Believe it or not, if its from the same Sub Manufacturer (ASUS, ATI, XFX, etc..) There is no physical difference between the two other than the 6870 has a moderate overclock which anyone can do for free. So the 6850 is a 6870 with a moderate…"

Tried to teach all my friends what RAM does, and why it is good to have a lot of RAM... they had the blankest look on their face (they dont know a lot about computers) It was quite funny actually.

It all comes down to the performance options/settings you seak, when picking a graphics card.for 20$ more your paying for a faster clock rate, as a 6850 can see the same performance as a 6870 simply by overclocking it. =/
