Profile Information

What kind of geek are you?
I am best at Windows software, but I'm not a developer. I love learning more about hdw, and can build and upgrade a box but I'm not a veteran nuanced MOBO or cooling afficianado. I use sites like Extreme Tech and the usual suspects of popular hdw sites to push my learning curve. I love Macs but I concentrated on MSFT software for the last several years heavily. I have helped a ton on the MSFT newsgroups, particularly XP and Vista because I'm into the OS. I like to help people who can't boot or have systemic major problems with Windoz. I have been running Windows 7 on one partition for a few weeks now, and it's faster and significantly more CPU efficient than Vista, and even the first PDC build or Alpha was plenty stable, but many of the future features are works in progress and not available yet. The Win 7 teams are blogging fairly extensively and have been for months.
Why do you consider yourself a geek?
I love to try to keep up with the changes in hdw, software, and fantasize about toys I want.
How did you find out about our Geek community?
Known about Chris since Tech TV days; it was one of the best educational networks on TV. I'm sorry it's gone.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I have a lot of competing ideas.
What makes you laugh?
An infinite confluence of events has the potential.
Favorite music, movies, books, shows, artists, games, people, events, hobbies, etc.?
I'm somewhat of a news and political junkie and the escape TV shows I like are Lost, Prison Break, Dexter, and the Unit. I should read more decent fiction by more contemporary authors, and more types of literature. It's tough to read a fraction of my favorite sites every day or week, now with the prolifieration of RSS, blogs, wikis, and the access to them and print media on the web. I organize them into folders and hit 'em the best I can given the time I have.

Amazon Offering 25 Days of Free Christmas Music

Posted on December 9, 2008 at 7:20am 0 Comments

While I didn't grow up in a religion that celebrates Christmas per se, although there is a similar holiday at the same time that gives presents, one per night, I love Christmas Music, and Manheim Steam Roller's albums are among my faves. If you've not heard MSR, check them out on one of the kazillion sites that lets you play a minute or so of any cut.

Here's the link for Amazon's free music.…
