Fire Safety Rules for your Business

A week doesn’t go by where we see news reports of a single house fire, small or large multi family building go up in flames. Dozens of people are displaced and often, someone dies. But when you think about it, fires in businesses seem to be less common.

This is probably due in part to businesses being more regulated along with having better fire safety rules in place to recognize and prevent vulnerabilities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Census of Fatal Occupational…

IT Security: Preventing Insider Threat

A “Logic Bomb” isn’t really logical, it’s a virus, designed to take down your corporate network and disable existing systems that may monitor data, protect it, back it up or access it. A logic bomb is designed to multiply like any virus and spread throughout a network multiplying its effects.

In a Wall Street Journal story an example provided, depicts an employee at Fannie Mae, knowing he is about…

Movie time on Avengers

Managed to catch a show for the Avengers. Not a bad show. There are some hilarous moments with the Hulk. Was surprised that the theater was not full. Ok the ticket was a sponsor by my uncle's company but you mean there is not much people in the company interested in the Avengers? I am glad I got the chance to watch it in theater. Since it is a Marvel production, they have the usual end of the show scene where it reveals that the next villain or villains will be the Skrull. These guys in the…

What Is Business or Corporate Identity Theft?

Business or corporate identity theft occurs when a thief uses an existing business’ name to obtain credit, or bills a business’s legitimate clients for products and services. Often, but not always, a Social Security Number of a company officer is required to commit business identity theft. Other identifiers, such as Federal IDs or Employer’s Identification Numbers are readily available in public records, dumpsters, or internally, and the relative ease of access to these identifiers…

Your New Best Friend May Not Protect You

Your mobile phone may arguably be your new best friend. There are few people, places, or things in our lives today that get as many hours of attention as your mobile phone or is with you as often (and for some of us, that means 24/7). Four out of seven people on the planet have mobile phones, because a phone really is a great companion that brings us into contact with all the actual people we love, media that entertains us, music that makes us feel good, and finances that help us…

Industry-Standard Programming For Beginners: Lesson 4 (A Simple Program III)

In our previous lesson, we developed a simple program which can determine the depth of a well, given the time taken for a stone to hit the bottom, and the gravitational field constant.

But why stop here? We could scour the country looking for wells and the time that stones take to hit the bottom of the bottom. Whenever a new well and time is found, the program…

comics not just for juniors

Comics today, as well as some cartoons are certainly not for children. Most of these materials are written by adults for adults. The plots and the texts are sometime quite hard to understand and certainly not for children. So how would one knows which are for children? You will have to look at the art. If the art is drawn very childish, simple story, everyone are friendly and it is a happy ending with everyone smiling that should be the one. Somehow the publisher wanted to earn their dollars…

Industry-Standard Programming For Beginners: Lesson 3 (A Simple Program II)

This tutorial is a continuation of the explanation of the example program introduced in the previous lesson.

Now that you know roughly what the program does, you may be wondering why it is written in this elaborate way. The result could be worked out with a calculator in much less time than it takes to read the program and certainly less time time than it…

Industry-Standard Programming For Beginners: Lesson 2 (A Simple Program I)

The very simplest kinds of computer programs are introduced in this post. Even so, there is much to learn – the basic structure of a program, how to feed in data and lay out results, but most of all how to get the computer to do what you want it to do, and, perhaps more importantly, find out what’s going wrong when it doesn’t.

Computers, much like the Delphic Oracle, are used to answer questions, but, as with the Oracle, you need to be careful how you phrase your request, or…
