Is Email Encryption Right for Your Business?

The Privacy Rights Clearing house currently tallies 542,608,451 records breached in the past 5 years. Unsecure email certainly contributes to the problem. Small business email (or any email) starts off on a secure or unsecure wired or wireless network then travels over numerous networks through secure or unsecure email servers often vulnerable to people who are in control of those servers.

There is also plenty of hacking and cracking tools bad guys (and good guys) use to sniff out…

Data Privacy Day 2012

Lately, it seems that barely a day goes by when we don’t learn about a major Internet presence taking steps to further erode users’ privacy. The companies with access to our data are tracking us in ways that make Big Brother look like a sweet little baby sister.

Typically when we hear an outcry about privacy violations, these perceived violations involve some apparently omnipotent corporation recording the websites we visit, the applications we download, the social networks we join,…

SPAM - Not something to eat....

I never realized that being a part of http://geeks.pirillo.com/ would lead to getting Spammed.

I received the following email today:

I'm just happy that gmail was smart enough to throw this into the Spam folder where it belongs.

If "miss Ama" happens to see this, please note that I'm quite happy with my wife of almost 52…

Anti-Scam School 101

Ever hear the term “less is more”?  I’ve decided to drop a lot of things that annoy me-phones, I don’t reply to emails that I don’t know, and I don’t go out of my way to shop at online places I’ve never heard of.  I also canceled AT&T for the following reasons: They’ll send me a text message about something, I open it and I think I get charged, also 23.00 for 411 info, and then they send a text stating what I wanted to know.  I press 1 to get the number, they still send me a text anyway.…

Hi again all, it's been a great time away, but I figured it's time to actually do something rather than watch Leo Laporte on twit, or watch Chris Pirillo type and stare at his screensavers. First off, here's some advice,

don't befriend someone who has their glasses either broken, or one hinge off or…

The real homeland security scam

Rap TV investigates had some reports of a home security hustle in the Sacramento area. So we sent an undercover in to see what was going on. What we found out is the Do

not call list is a fully functioning system hopelessly abused by a

company with low regard for the general community. With out

mentioning the name of the company we will say they have a specific

introduction by phone and some people walk up in person. The

conversation…

Our school's IT Department...

Firstly, they changed all user accounts' all files from being on separate computers to being on servers only. Now it takes 10 minutes to log in if more than 5 people are trying to do it at once. It was bad before with just the account info being on the school's servers, but now they have moved it all there.

This... isn't the most annoying thing. To print, you have to put cash on your national ID card, and then you have to pay with it to print. Which is annoying, since it…

Staying More Sucure

This year I vowed to be more secure by doing simple things that most of us probably don’t do but should. These little things are in the back of most of our minds, we know we should we just don’t do them. Thing like changing your passwords once a month or every two months, using strong passwords and not using password1234 for your password.

Ensure Safety With Cctv Security Systems

In this day and age, you can't be too complacent about the safety of your own home. Crime abounds everywhere, and even the seemingly safest areas are not spared. Crime prevention is a near impossible feat. However, crime detection leading to prosecution is not, thanks to CCTV security systems.

CCTV Surveillance Defined

Having a CCTV security system for video surveillance and live monitoring purposes is like having an entire television… Continue

Google Public DNS

How many of you besides me, are trying Google Public DNS???

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4

Wonder what effect it will have on openDNS which is what I've been using up till today for the added browsing security it provides.

Google claims to be as secure and with less redirects and advertising.

I guess time and usage will determine who is… Continue
