I’m sure that everyone knows that the PS3 is getting 3D compatibility. But how many people are actually gonna play the PS3 in 3D?

As of now 3D TVs will cost you from 2k-6k. These aren’t cheap but the DVD and Blu-Ray players weren’t cheap when they first came out either. Panasonic is also producing a 3D camera that will cost you the small price of $21,000.

But 3D movies in actual movie theaters never got big, why would I think that 3D TVs will? I don’t. I don’t think that there will be enough products to buy. Sure you can game in 3D, but how many games are
actually going to be made in 3D. My guess very few. And what about the
3D movies how much will those cost?

My final thought is it’s a fad. I do not think this will last, because of the high prices. And how many people actually want to wear glasses for hours on end just to see in 3D? 3D movie theaters never got
very popular and I don’t think this will either.

You don't have to make a game in 3d, it's already rendered in 3d and then rendered in a monoscopic perspective. To make a game 3d, you simply render two slightly different perspectives at once and polarize it. It *does* affect game performance, and even with the PS3's power whether you can get 3d at full resolution is questionable, but it shouldn't take work on the part of the developers since it could be handled entirely transparently by the hardware. I don't know if that's the approach they'll take but it seems like the best way to go.

As for 3d, when they make a 3DTV that works without polarization or shutter glasses so that all people can use it, it'll become popular. I doubt that'll ever happen - what I expect instead is that we'll soon enough see images beamed directly onto the retina from a tiny projector mounted on glasses or something similar. Makes more sense.

Something I hardly see mentioned with this topic is the amount of people who can't watch 3D without getting ill. I am one of these who develop an almost blinding headache. Will pass on it. For those who do spend their money on this fad...remember...even though you can...means you probably shouldn't.

you know they are working on a tv that is in 3d without glasses, also look around at the movies in 3d in the past year.
