"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." ~ Henry David Thoreau

I want to do it all.

1. Write a screenplay.
2. Become a director.
3. Write a book.
4. Become a successful blogger.
5. Become a photographer.
6. Start my own videography business.
7. Live abroad.
8. Play the violin recreationally.
9. Learn Spanish, German, and Korean.
10. Invest in real estate.

And that's just for starters. These things aren't just daydreams for me, they're tangible realities. But am I just setting myself up for failure? I'm a bit late in the game for such lofty ambitions. Perhaps I should settle down, find a secure, well paying job, and live happily ever after. Sounds like hell to me.

I'm creative to my core and doing anything else just isn't an option. But trying to do it all, and do it all at once, isn't effective. No matter what I'm doing, I just end up feeling guilty about everything else I'm not doing. I have every confidence I could do any of those things and do them well. (Except, perhaps, learning a language.) So why haven't I made real progress in even one thing yet?

Perhaps I just have to face the fact I just can't do everything at once. Perhaps it just isn't possible. Perhaps I should just pick one thing and focus it on it to the exclusion of else. But the thought of giving up on anything is agony. How could I possibly choose.

Okay, I suppose the only logical choice would be to start with developing my own business. Ideally it would free me up to pursue whatever it is I choose to pursue next. I know focusing on that alone for a length of time would yield the best results. But I don't know if I actually can. I think I'm addicted to doing.

I want to do it all, but trying to do it all at once is just setting myself up for failure. Anyway, I guess should leave myself something to do in my old age.

What dreams are your aspirations?

Cheers!

"Dream as if you'll live forever... live as if you'll die today." ~ James Dean

My dream, well, goal no. 1 is becoming a doctor.

I have others, and share a few of your dreams (specifically the first 7 that you listed).

I agree with taking one thing at a time. I would put them in order based on which ones might help you with the others. Right now I am learning Spanish. I live in Texas and there are a lot of people here who don't speak English. Speaking Spanish would be a good career move on my part. A friend of mine told me about www.livemocha.com as being a good place to start. The basic lessons are free. I have learned a lot already. The main thing I learned is that I can not roll an "R". I sound like I am choking on something. But I can read it rather well.

I'm working on the following:

1.) Start my own action figure/toy-making business
2.) Get out of my current crappy job so I don't go crazy & can focus on starting my own business.
3.) Earn a Bachelor's Degree in Animation.
4.) Finish learning Spanish.
5.) Learn to speak German & Japanese.
6.) Become a professional artist.
7.) Start my own comic book.
8.) start my own comic book printing company (which would be a sister company to my action figure business)
9.) Design a super cool house with hidden rooms.... just because I think that'd be awesome. lol
10.) learn to play my electric violin that I've had forever.
11.) Start an all-girl punk rock band that kicks @$$.
12.) Pay off all my stupid school loans. lol
13.) Help design online games.
etc.....etc......etc

I love your goals! And it's important to have things to aim for in life. My goals are to:

1. Finish my masters degree (which I will do in December!) yay!
2. Get my National Board Certification which would allow me to teach in any state
3. TRAVEL LOTS!
4. Write at least 1 children's book
5. Get a puppy
6. Not stress and be happy (this is soooo hard for me right now but I'm working on it!)

yes yes this is all well and good but I gotto say genius wont do it, talent wont do it, neither will dreaming about things only two things can work in life

1. blind luck 2. perseverance

if you are stubborn you can do anything you like there is always a way and by anything obviously I dont mean becoming bill gates you would need some of condition 1 for that.
