More Information

If you’re the tech guy in the family then you know how annoying it is when a family member calls you to drive all the way to their house to fix the easiest computer problem. But with TeamViewer you can easily connect to a family member’s or friend’s computer from home. This is how it works first you’ll need to download a copy of TeamViewer (Download link) onto both computers then your friend will give you a series of numbers known as their ID and then they’ll give you a password. After that you can do one of four things Remote support, Presentation, File transfer, or VPN. Remote support will probably be the one that you will use most so will just talk about that one but if you want to find out more about the other ways to connect (click here). So Remote support lets you see your friend’s or family’s desktop and you can completely control their computer and you can also make TeamViewer start with Windows or OS X so grandma won’t even need to start the program whenever there is something wrong with her computer. The program also lets you download files so let’s say you forgot a file on your office computer all you have to do is connect to it with TeamViewer and download the file. So will you use TeamViewer? Sounds like a good deal! I used to use Microcoms' "Carbon Copy" for something similar, but after leaving the company didn't really have much use for it anymore, and over time, now Symantec owns the product. An unfitting death to a "great has been" product. Nice to see a replacement, now that I have become the "Family PC Guru" for both sides (mine & hers) . . . Unfortunately (yeah) right), I have no Internet connection on our sailboat!

Use it all the time to support friends and family on many social networking sites. Most of them are know to contain lots of spyware/malware programs even if it is not really the operator/owners of the sites spreading the bad information it is the users who you interact with on many social networks that cause all the issues. I use this to gain access to other utilitues I use to keep thier computers running is as best shape as they can!

Hell yes. This is the program to support your friends with. Actually, it is FREE for personal use but quite expensive for professional use. I have a father-in-law that is from Hungary. He goes to Hungarian websites and clicks on every female picture he can find. I used to have to fix his computer daily. I got so frustrated that I considered blocking the Internet from him. Then I found TEAMVIEWER and RETURNIL.

He is now only allowed to surf in a 100% virtual environment. Returnil does not keep any of the dozens of viruses, trojan horses and other malware he used to catch on a daily basis. Now I only have to TEAMVIEWER to him once every week or two. I must turn off Returnil and allow his pc to catch up with pc program and microsoft updates.

The scary thing is I have now deleted all forms of malware programs, firewalls etc. Because he is in a virtual world, every time he has a problem all he has to do now is REBOOT. He goes back to a 100% clean environment. It is all so awesome. He is happy and I am happier.

Bottom line, TEAMVIEWER and RETURNIL are true life savers.
