Every time I go on a website that has the words "Google Chrome" side by side - weather it be talking about the browser or the OS - I also see a comment that goes along the lines of this "Chrome OS will FAIL! (Insert reason here). This is not true, and I will tell you why.I'm 14 and going into 9th grade. 94% of my friends and/or people I know (in school) only go onto the computer to go online. Chrome OS would be perfect for these people. Yes, they still type school papers with Microsoft Word, BUT if they don't use any of the big features of Microsoft Word. They only use the ones that are also available in Google Docs. They also download a program once-in-a-while, but nothing to fancy (meaning it would probably be something that can be found as a web app in the Chrome webstore, too.)
The remaining 6% of my friends and/or people I know (again, in school) use a lot of a lot computer apps and/or game. Chrome OS would be also be perfect for these people, but they would still need their Windows/Linux (none of my friends own a Mac) PC. Recently we learned of the Chromoting feature of Chrome OS. This feature allows you to remotely access your Windows or Linux PC, in a browser window on Chrome OS. This way, my friends can remotely access their Windows or Linux desktop on their Chrome OS laptop. They will have the best of both worlds. Now, I don't think that Chrome OS will replace Windows (I'm still talking about my friends here, not the whole world). That 6% of people that I know will still need their Windows or Linux PC (like I said earlier).
