Ever delete a linux partition in windows?
This is in no way an advertisement but just a tip incase this ever happens to you, I do not make anything off this post. It is just helpful information.
I just did. And then on reboot realized HEY! Grub is still installed... and is now giving me an Error 17. What did I do? I panic thinking I have to reinstall everything again. That means reinstalling Windows 7 (Yes I know, the new one is released tomorrow) and have to reinstall all my programs, games add-on's for games the works. I did some searching for a bit on the net for how to uninstall grub and how to fix mbr. Nothing came up.
Then i realize that hey its windows 7, there isn't much that will fix it. I almost got teary eyed... just a bit! Anyway I found a nice forum that pointed me to Ultimate boot cd I figured. What the hey if all else fails I just have to reinstall again.
To my surprise this little number was easy to use. Just download the ISO (zip or exe) Burn that to cd/dvd and boot from it. It's easy to find the boot options and get to them. I had fixed my problem with in seconds.
So if you ever find yourself in the same predicament I did just download this tool and it should work just fine. It also works the other way around, if you are a linux/unix/bsd user you can fix the grub loader with that as well.
So remember folks the Ultimate boot cd is one of the best tools ever made. This little thing also has a lot more to offer. Such as CPU testing, Memory testing, Benchmark tests, and much more.

Unfortunately that doesn't work with Windows 7 as your main operating system. I did try that at first, since i knew about the fimbr and tried my kubuntu cd as i tried the fdisk /mbr as well.

i had one of these xperiences while using xp and linux after deleting linux i gt an error message.......all i did was..
1) booted with XP installation CD
2)Chose recovery console
3)Once you in the the Recovery Console you'll probably be prompted to type the administrator user name and password. I ususally just put admin as the user name and nothing as the password and it usually works.
4)type in "FIXMBR" (no quotes) hit enter
5)it will ask you to confirm it...just press y
4)type "EXIT" to restart your pc..and tat's it :):)

I had the same problem but I installed Linux on a nother drive but it did it to both drives. But I tried to reinstalled vista and it did not help at all so $95 later it is fixed.

While this isn't technically to do with the Ultimate Boot CD, I once needed to delete a windows partition, didn't think while I was doing it, and deleted the linux partition off of my external drive.
Downloaded all sorts of partition recovery programs, but couldn't find one that was free. I then found testdisk.
Downloaded that into windows, ran it on the drive, and it not only found the partition, but restored it back to the same drive i'd deleted it from. Rebooted afterwards, selected linux, and it booted and ran with no problems at all.

thats nice, because every once and awhile i destroy the boot, and i fix it but after searching in too much forms.
also the CD is full of amazing stuff like the Benchmark Tools
