This week I had the privilage to go Gilroy, "The city of garlic", and apart from the great food, and great music, and people, there was a galexy S3 Phone demo booth, the booth had traoned users from samusing, but not like you would think, they were average users that wanted to make a buck here and there, so they were basically average users with some extra information on the phone. I interviewed some people from the booth, 2 were pure average users, and 3 were super smart in the sence of proecessor speed, operating system specs, screen resolution, bloatware, ect. Since I am (and proud to be) a apple fan boy the biggest question is "How could you sell the samsung S3 to a apple fanboy or someone who has been using their iphone since the first release?" the first person I interviewed was one of the "more knowledgeable users". The thing he basically said was that: "the processor and the specs of the phone make the phone better then the iphone, hands down, and that thanks to customization, the galaxy is more built for the average user". Now in my opinion that might be a reason. I checked with a young women there she said: "the samsung LTE was a great addition to the things that beat the iPhone but the in terms of actual usage the samsung really only stays on 3G because of how many other 4G phones out there and that the wireless towers that support 4G only allow something like 56 4G entries, which means of your 57th or 58th Ect your stuck on 3G and the phone burns 4G LTE at an extreme rate. The iPhone life stands at 8 hours of heavy usage, real time, my usage. Now there was also a pure average user he said: "to me the android platform is awesome and the customization involved is probably the beast feature along with the camera, and the retina display on the iPhone is great but would it really make a difference to the untrained eye? Not to my eye I love my phone it's large screen make playing games awesome". The last user is a super user, a Android lover, the grand daddy of the group answered some questions I asked and they were:
Q) how is the security on the android platform?
A) well in terms of security on the android platform it's great, yes once in a while their will be a leak but really the only way you could get a virus on the android platform is going on a site that caries pornographic or a phishing site, google play is pretty good in terms of security.
Q) would you say that android users be more likely to use the Windows platform?
A) Yes! And no, Windows and some versions of Linux are customizable to the core, even the boot screen can be changed but yes some Mac os x users are switching to linux platform.
Q) Do you enjoy that some of the android phones have removable storage?
A) Yes! This is what kills the iPhone, why would you pay more for the same device but more space 100$ for double the space?
Q) would you want to see the apple tv idea for the android platform?
Well, we have hardwire but not to the point to what ever is on your screen is broadcasted over wifi and displayed in 1080p but yes I would want to see that but unfortunately apple is a patient monster.
what was nice was that there were demo's of the phone, nice people, prizes, I was given a Samsung galaxy S3 shirt, some people won the galaxy S3 phone, unlocked, the Gilroy garlic festival was a great experience. Next year I hope I can get the job to help sell the phone.
