How do you set a program "Not to launch" at start-up??? (Help?)

Greetings - my daughter is at it again, she's quite "geeky" at just 13 - and not afraid in the least to push any buttons, download any file, and change my settings and preferences at will!

Now my iMac has 2 programs annoyingly starting up on their own every time I turn my Mac on. Shouldn't there be a setting in the program's preferences to undo this action??

Thanks,
Curt

not sure if this for MACs but check out: "autoruns" download for free, not software just a browse for comp then is an interphase...very easy and shows files running then you can just click as for not to run at startup.

Thanks Guys - the controls in the Accounts pane was the solution!

If it's in the dock, just right click (or control click) on it and uncheck the "Start at login" button. If it isn't in the dock, then follow Edward's instructions to remove it for sure.

There is a way to prevent some of these programs from launching at startup. Go to the Accounts pane in System Preferences. Click on the Login tab. Some but not all programs that launch at startup are listed here. If you click on a program and then click on "-", the program will not launch at startup. If you want to see all of the programs that are running open Activity Monitor, which is in the Utilities folder. Some of these should not be closed because they are necessary for OS X to run properly.
