I Had Great Time on Geeksradio.fm Last Night

I am still trippin' on the fact that I actually got nervous over a pre-recorded podcast being aired. Unlike most of what I do, which is download on demand stuff, I actually knew when it would be listened to. It changed things a bit. I have not done much radio and when I did I was more the studio rat guy. It really is no different.

Today being "the morning after", I have a better finger to thawp on the cause of my sudden nervousness... I was not doing what the other DJs are doing. I was trying to fill a two hour show with poodsafe music by independent artist. I do not have the familiarity and popularity of known artist to help carry me. I podcast what I think is good music with out the aid of charts and request. I guess I felt kinda like I was laying myself out.

While the recording played, I sat in Geeks Radio Chat. I thank the channel members for their support and...

One of which was from Jersey Joe. Who is what I call "A Podsafe Talent Scout". Jersey Joe spends about 4 hours each night surfing MySpace looking for good artist. When he finds one he likes, he encourages them to get them selves up on the Podshow so that indie music advocates like him and I can try and "get them out there". He then also sends out an e-mail to podcasters like myself informing other podcasters of the new artist. I always look forward to his e-mails.

Jersey Joe also does a weekly click to pic podcast. When I let Jersey Joe know what I was trying to do at Geeks Radio, he immediately shot off e-mails to every artist he could think of. The result was as beneficial as having a personal assistant. My inbox was and still is being filled with e-mails from artist sent by Joe. Thanks again for your help Jersey Joe.

Joe wrote in to let me know he did catch the last half of the show and he liked it to the point that he is going to throw a link up at his site for geeksradio.fm! W00t! By the end of the evening I had also received e-mails from musicians who tuned in and liked the show. To the musicians who allowed me play there material, THANK YOU!

To those musicians that I contact and did not allow me to air their material.... well, to date, there are none. I am confident I can line up many more podsafe independent artist for future shows. So if you liked it, tune in again.

Thanks All! I had a great time and am looking forward to next week. I am also still taking suggestions for names other than "The Lumpcast".

As far as doing a live broadcast... I dunno, I liked being able to give IRC all my attention while the show aired but I understand what the listeners want by shout outs and request. I am not sure how doable that is for podsafe material as well but I will look into it.
