It's been a few years since I first visited the Geeks site. I found some really great friends here. Time passed, and many of us moved on. I've been looking for an online community, and decided to try Geeks again. Much has changed, and much has stayed the same.
When I first started at Geeks, I had an iMac that I loved. I also had some PCs, and got a few more over the next year or so. But I had my share of trouble with the PCs, and eventually dumped them. I added a 2009 Mac Mini to my computer collection.
I'm Apple all the way now. In addition to the Macintosh computers, I have an iPhone 3GS (Yes, it's out-dated, but still functional), AppleTV, iPad version 1, in addition to my old iPod 30GB that sits in a drawer somewhere.
I'm an Apple Fan Boy, with reservations. I don't care for the new iPad Mini. I'd love to have the latest iPad (4th Generation?!), and an iPhone 5.
I have my loyalties to Apple because most of their devices work well for me. But I won't hesitate to criticize items which don't appeal to me.

Android is a very Fluid OS, you just have a personal prefence. To Be Honest I Owned an iPhone 4, and traded it down the road for a Galaxy Nexus. I Enjoyed my iphone 4, and i enjoy my Galaxy nexus, both great phones. I only ditched the iPhone because i prefer to stay Apple free until apple realizes it's time to Stop sueing the competition in hopes of removing it and making Apple the only consumer choice.

Yeah, I been back configuring 8 for people bringing me new machines to look/run more like 7 with the great add-ons found around the net.
Comment by Gibson on December 26, 2012 at 10:02am Windows 8 isnt that bad if you add a Custom Windows 7 Start Menu Bar to it, witch you can, and their are several vendors online for it. Yeah it's a little Fk'd up, Watch Microsoft fail it out and abandon it and release the next version of windows in higher glory to windows 7. Never the less 7 will be around for much of 2013 still at least for those wanting it. It's a Great OS, still very capable in every aspect.
Comment by DTM on December 24, 2012 at 1:57pm Hey Ron,
I have to admit, Vista had me doubting Microsoft there for awhile, but Windows 7 was a huge redemption for them. I'm on my 3rd home built gaming machine since we last had Geeks as a stomping grounds. And still as usual, none of my Microsoft PC's have every given me a single problem., and as you well know I'm a hard core user. We had our our little disagreements Ron, but to each his own, use what works for yah.
I no longer have my old job running Macs in the graphics industry, so I don't need to complain about them and hate them on a daily basis anymore, (lol) however, my feelings towards Apple have changed very little.
Just as an FYI my son works for Sprint now, selling iPhones and Droids. Would it be a surprise if I said Droid outsells iPhone 10 to 1 at their stores? Well, that's what he tells me anyhow, he has to give comparison demos daily to customers, without bias and let them decide for themselves what to buy.
Since 2010 I rarely visit here as I have also built my own Social Site (online community), many of the old Geeks from here have followed there. We are very active and have a lot of fun, that's what it's all about after all, fun... no drama. Yet, we have a Geeky corner as well.
Merry Christmas Ron!
Dan
Comment by Knightjp on November 27, 2012 at 12:54pm You never hear of a channel where Apple users bash Android. Insecure Android users. Maybe Apple & iOS users are just so happy with their devices that they don't bother with the trivial stuff like features and who has the better hardware.
Comment by Knightjp on November 27, 2012 at 12:49pm Finally someone with sense or nonsense actually. My bros are Android fans, having tasted its features & flexibility, and they have been going on & on about it and they have dared me to use an android phone hoping that I would join the club and give up on Apple iPhones. To be honest, I didn't take the dare nor did I convert. I used my bro's phone briefly for 30 mins and I was missing my iPhone, to his dismay. Why?
Despite how many dairy products they put into it, Android will never be as fluid as iOS. And while I will concede that Android does have cool features and better hardware, its missing something that iOS has; the X factor, which in my opinion is simply priceless. Its kinda like the difference af driving a BMW & Alfa Romeo actually. You'd simply won't care.
Frankly Apple always made products that did that & worked straight out of the box. Their products always did exactly what they said it could do and You could rely on that.. well except for their maps...
Frankly one of the biggest reasons I will never get an Android phone is because of the Android community. Have you seen how many sites and youtube channels for Android; specifically focused on bashing Apple and the iOS? Im sorry. I don't want to become one of those.
