Is Google REALLY ‘Evil’?
Google? Evil? Never! Well, in all seriousness, how can anyone tell? How can anyone with a moral certainty state that Google is Evil or not? Google is just like any other money oriented corporate in the world. They are there to make money and they accept Good or Evil profits. Google had once a halo that has long lost it. The “Don’t be Evil’ halo is gone and anyone that thinks otherwise is also long behind times. Google has made it’s shareholders billions of dollars and wants to make even more in the future and isn’t that the target and goal of a good corporate system towards its Shareholders? There we go again – Corporate – Shareholders and Profits. Chivalry, like Privacy, is also long dead! Get over it…

I have advocated for some time now that Google is extremely Evil. All of Google's products are intrusive. Their search results are rigged. Your g-mail is not private. Soon you will be getting voice ads on your Android phone. All of this is being done under the guise of better ad targeting.
Google's biggest attractions are it's free applications. At least free on the surface. Google scans, reads and evaluates all of your data and search trends. I will go as far to say that Google knows more about you than your family and friends do. And because Google traffics in data, who is to say that your info won't be up for sale, shared with government agencies or used to flag you in some negative way to potential employers?
I know that absolute privacy is a pipe dream. But I will be damned if I will knowingly give it away. In the end we might have to do what CEO Schmidt said, change your name. He should know of what he speaks because he knows where the skeletons are.
Big Brother thy name is Google!

I have a few online stores that have allowed my family to survive. My stores are well optimized and linked (I work on this daily). The top two Google positions are generally held by large companies with dedicated SEO people.
With the advent of Google Instant, orders have dropped off to almost zero. If you're not familiar, Google Instant is the auto-complete "feature" that populates search results as you type. If you type "hawaiian s", the results for "hawaiian shirt" will populate the page, the user abandons typing for a quick jump to #1 or #2 visible above the fold under Google ads.
People only go to the #1 or #2 spot ignoring all others. Google is only going through the motions showing #3 and higher. Any traffic I am getting is from other browsers, other search engines, and people who have Google Instant turned off.
Evil would be taking away the ability for thousands of people like myself to make a living in favor of corporate interests. What kind of crappy search engine drives searchers to only two results?
I am about as angry right now as I can get. So yeah, I can now say I think Google is evil as all getout.
